Greetings!
The Nebraska Foundation for Children's Vision is launching its electronic newsletter. This publication will contain updates on the NFCV's work, tips on children's vision issues, stories about children with vision issues and more!
You have received this inaugural newsletter because of your relationship with NFCV. We hope you will enjoy the information, and will pass it on to your colleagues.
If you have questions or ideas about children's vision issues or resources, or suggestions as to the best ways to promote awareness, we would love to hear from you - just email us at nfcv@assocoffice.net.
Enjoy! |

NFCV Following Up on Forum
NFCV's Children's Vision Forum on October 6 was one of our most successful yet. A wonderful collaboration of stakeholders produced many great ideas on how we can all help Nebraska children be visually prepared to learn.
Organizations represented included: NFCV Board; Nebraska Optometric Association; Nebraska School Boards Association; Nebraska School Nurses; Dept. of Education - Early Childhood; Nebraska School Administrators; Prevent Blindness Nebraska; and the Omaha Archdiocese.
In the coming months, NFCV will be meeting with individuals who attended the forum to discuss ways we can work together on specific tasks mentioned at the forum.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed such great ideas! We will be contacting you in the near future to see how we can expand on those ideas. |

| See To Learn Month a Success! |
|
More than 170 See To Learn Assessments Performed in October!
The reports are still coming in. . . but at least 170 See To Learn assessments were performed during the month of our October, when we promoted See To Learn Month statewide. That is more than double the average number of assessments performed per month in 2007!
Of the assessments reported so far, a vision disorder was detected in 18% of those children. Now, those 30 children have a better chance of succeeding in school because their vision disorders were detected, and hopefully will be treated.
Thank you to everyone who helped promote See To Learn Month! We still have a long way to go to ensure all Nebraska children are visually prepared to learn, but what an encouraging month! |
