"A lot of you may believe that Habitat is in the business of building
houses, I believe
Habitat is in the business of building hope."
Mike Frank, Vice President Board of Directors
Habitat
for Humanity is Proud to Announce the San
Pascual Groundbreaking!
Santa Barbara, CA - On December 10th
at 12 pm, Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County officially broke ground on our second affordable housing neighborhood in Santa Barbara, San
Pascual, located at 618 San
Pascual Street. Local
city and government officials including
Supervisor Salud Carbajal, Mayor Marty Blum, City Council members Helene Schneider, Roger Horton, Das Williams
along with representatives from Habitat staff, Board of Directors and community
supporters all gathered to celebrate the beginning of this new affordable
housing development. Construction will start next year with completion of the homes expected in 2010. To donate to this exciting project or volunteer please visit our website.
"By providing safe, decent, affordable homes, Habitat for Humanity opens
a door for impoverished families, allowing them the opportunity for increased
self-esteem and self-reliance," explained Joyce McCullough, Executive Director, Habitat for
Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County. "With the stability of a permanent home, families
can devote increased attention to jobs, education and health. As the crushing
cycle of poverty is broken, their children benefit, their neighborhoods are
revitalized and entire communities improve. We are proud to provide tangible,
life-changing results for these families." David Spainhour, Tad Smyth, Supervisor Salud Carbajal & Igor Ortiz
