Batting 1000 in a tough election  

Voters said "yes" to all four of the conservation ballot measures supported by The Conservation Campaign and its partner, The Trust for Public Land, in a difficult election for pocketbook measures of all types. Nationwide, the approval rate for conservation ballot measures declined to 58 percent, with 14 of 24 passing. 

Our strong results, from Colorado to Texas to New Jersey, show that voters will pay to create effective programs to protect land and water. But in the current economic and political climate, the advice and support we offer can make all the difference. The winning campaigns:   

 

Arapahoe County, CO.  While turning down
Kiowa Creek North, Arapahoe County, CO 
Arapahoe County Open Space Program
nearly every other local tax and bond and a state education funding measure, county voters extended the sales and use tax for its open space program by a vote of 62 to 38 percent. The Conservation Campaign sponsored the Arapahoe County campaign.

Haddonfield Borough, NJ.  By a margin of more than 2-1, Haddonfield Borough voters renewed their expiring open space levy, in a campaign sponsored by The Conservation Campaign. Read more... .

 

Andover Borough, NJ.  An overwhelming 84 percent of voters in this small, rural borough established an open space trust fund, a key step in protecting the scenic hilltop at the heart of the community. Read more... .

 

Travis County, TX. Voters approved an $82 million parks and open space bond to protect the unique and beautiful landscape of the rapidly growing Austin region, along with a bond to fund transportation safety improvements. Read more....
