What's New from Highpoint?
Greetings!

Finally we can say HAPPY FALL and mean it! The relief from three months of 90 degree temperatures here in Atlanta has given us a new energy (like we needed it right?).

We have just returned from four exhausting but exhilarating days at the Fall Highpoint Furniture Market in Highpoint, NC.  The Highpoint Market is to designers what a Paris runway fashion show is like to those in the fashion industry.  It's the best venue for us to not only see what the new trends and products are in home decor, but to get to know new manufacturers, vendors and artisans. We consider this trip an investment in our skill set so that we can turn around and offer even more products and resources to our clients.

This year was an especially fun trip for us because we met up with several of our Facebook and Twitter designer friends from across the country (that we had never met in person)!

So for all of you that are curious about what's coming down the pike in the next 6-9 months in home decor, this newsletter is for you!!!

ENJOY!

Fixation on Vintage
Bring the old back in!
vintage mirrorYou've probably heard the popular adage "Reuse, Renew, Repurpose". Well, it's all the rage in home decor now. The nice thing is, there is no stress here - just mix it in!!!

Old wire baskets, barn doors made into coffee tables, burlap on ottomans and windows, old stained glass windows hung on the all as art, vintage linens made into pillows - you name it and it works!

These industrial and ruralistic materials can be used in contemporary or traditional ways - just remember - MIX IT UP!

Mixing Modern and Traditional
Clean lines are in!
lampsOne of the easiest ways to add some transitional pieces into your home is with lamps. These lamps have bases and shades that can be matched to a variety of pantone and Benjamin Moore colors. Now that's custom!!  Again - no stress here. Mix it all in. Straight legs on a coffee table look great with end tables that have curves.

We saw a wonderful mix of materials too - linen, lucite, glass, repurposed wood, ceramic, mahogany and cherry - they all add warmth and texture to a space especially when partnered together!

Printed Wallpaper
Nope, it never really did go out of style!
wallpaperPeople ask us all the time if we like wallpaper. The answer is "YES! - We LOVE it!"

Wallpaper is the perfect way to add super personality and texture to a space (preferably a small space in our book). How scary can it be to wallpaper a powder bathroom or small entry way? Just do it!

It's worth investigating what's new these days - the metallic weaves, natural fibers, vintage patterns, etc. are wonderful!

COLOR!
An Unadulterated Love of Color!
stoolsIf the trend makers ever say that bright colors are out, we will go on strike!
Thankfully, that wasn't the case this market.

We loved all the ceramic stools (note: not just for outdoor anymore!) at the Emissary showroom. They even make them in a lamp version!  Gotta love colorful eye candy!

We Love to Give!
kiva woman
One of the many charities we support is KIVA which is an organization that empowers people like us  to be able to lend money to an entrepreneur across the globe, normally in an impoverished nation.

We always support women. This month, we are lending to Matilde Mazoio, who takes care of her 3 grandchildren in Mozambique. Our loan will help her build a house so that she can continue to support her grandchildren.

We are proud to have supported a total of 6 women with just a small investment of $50.  Our money is just a loan, so when it is paid back, we simply, give again!
