Greetings!

We don't know about you, but all of this rain and crazy weather has made us very itchy to get going with some Springtime projects at home!

In this newsletter, we thought we'd share with you some fun inspirations from the many projects we have been busy with over the last few months.  Maybe you'll be inspired to throw open the windows and let some fresh designs breeze  into your home this Spring!

Sometimes a "Refresh" is All You Need!
We find that many of our clients put the decorating of the master bedroom to the bottom of the priority list. That's easy to understand when you want to make sure your family room and kitchen are finished, maybe kids rooms, etc.  Don't forget though - this is the room where you start and finish your day.  It should be a place that brings peace to your heart, is comfortable, calming and enjoyable.  While this bedroom was very pretty before we even started, it wasn't what the client wanted because to her it felt very cold and not well put together.  She told us she wanted "Rustic Ritz Carlton" and that's what she got!  The paint color here is Sherwin Williams Bunglehouse Gray which turned out to be a beautiful grayish green and was very serene.  The coverlet is a machine washable silk in case her beloved Boxer jumps on the bed!

Don't Forget the Ceiling -  Consider it the Fifth Wall!

Here's to Lookin' Up!
Small spaces can be the most inspired spaces.  Be brave!  This project was completed by one of our faux artists and is a combination of wallpaper (the pattern) and paint. Notice how the black border is such an unexpected detail.  Now look up at your ceilings and see if you have mill work that is just fading into your white ceiling.  If you don't have crown molding, it's easy to add! The wall color here is Sherwin Williams Studio Blue Green.

Table Lamp
One common mistake we see in homes is that the lamps are too small for the space they are in and don't provide proper lighting for the task at hand.  When in doubt, go bigger than your instinct tells you.  Look for shades that are unique but sleek and simple in shape.  We love lamps that allow a three way bulb to give you maximize lighting options.

Bedside Lamps
Ideally, bedside lamps should provide good reading light when you are lying down or sitting up.  Again, we see way too many small lamps that a) Are not tall enough and don't visually frame the bed appropriately and b) Don't provide proper lighting.  Another idea especially for kids - lamps like this with barrel shades are perfect for a talented artist to paint a monogram on or to embellish in some way.  It's all in the details as they say!

Cool chandelierChandeliers
If your builder selected your chandeliers, there is a good chance they are too small for the space or are lacking in personality (sorry builders but we've seen it too many times).  You will not believe the difference investing in quality, attractive lighting will make to your home until you take the plunge and do it.

Live A Little (Outdoors That Is)!

Does your family room or kitchen look right out onto your deck or screened in porch?  Is it a site for sore eyes?  If so, call us to make your outdoor living spaces as beautiful as your indoor living spaces.  These areas are often neglected but can be one of the most peaceful, relaxing places in your home.  Outdoor fabrics, furniture and lighting are not what they used to be.  The colors, textures and designs are not only beautiful but weatherproof!

Words to Live By
We can either watch life from the sidelines, or actively participate...Either we let self-doubt and feelings of inadequacy prevent us from realizing our potential, or embrace the fact that when we turn our attention away from ourselves, our potential is limitless.
