 We Need Your Help!!

As a member of the Door County Maritime Museum, you are the life blood of the organization. Hopefully, your membership has been both fun and enriching.  You recently received information in the mail about our "Each One Brings One" membership campaign.  The campaign ends five short days from now on the 20th of July.

The "Each One Brings One" campaign is just what it sounds like. You are in the best position to tell others about the benefits of membership - the free admission, store discounts, "merry time" member events and the warm feeling you get from preserving the county's rich maritime heritage. For the next month we are asking current members to approach friends about becoming a DCMM member; you'll be surprised just how many have been waiting to be asked to join.

The fun part of this campaign comes on Sunday evening, July 26, when members who have successfully recruited a new member will be invited to bring their new member(s) to a FREE pre-concert dinner, served "picnic-style" at the museum in Sturgeon Bay. Michael Raye & The Works, our most popular act in the Summer Concert Series, will be performing. Only established members and their new enrollees will be invited to the dinner, and they will have preferred seating for the 7 p.m. concert. Wait...it doesn't stop there. The recruiting member gets his or her name entered into the drum for a number of prizes to be drawn on the night of the concert. Top prize is a life membership to the Museum!

MARITIME MUSEUM BOAT FESTIVAL ENTRIES

The Door County Maritime Museum Classic & Wood Boat Festival is fast approaching and registrations are being taken for a number of events scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 1-2 at the museum in Sturgeon Bay.

The festival annually features a remarkable assortment of vessels with judges awards for power, sail and self-powered boats. Festival attendees will also vote for People's Choice award winners on the Saturday of the show. Registration materials are available at the museum, 120 N. Madison Ave., Sturgeon Bay, or you can register online at www.dcmm.org.

The Sikaflex Challenge boat building competition returns with construction on Saturday and the race on Sunday. Less than a handful of spaces remain for the field of 12 two-person teams. Again, visit or contact the museum at 920-743-5958 for rules and registration materials. Entry is free of charge for both boat entries and the Sikaflex event.

New this year at the festival is "Paint the Bay" in which area artists are invited to participate in an open-air painting event Saturday, Aug. 1, spanning the length of the bay of Sturgeon Bay. Works must have a maritime theme and be completed and returned to the festival grounds by noon. A silent auction follows from 12:30-4 p.m. at the museum with proceeds going to the artist and the museum. Entry fee is $10 and forms to pre-register are available at the museum or online. Registrations will also be taken between 8-9 a.m. on the morning of the event at which time all the artists' medium will be stamped and artists will be released to begin painting.

See the museum's website (www.dcmm.org) for additional details!
