Family Week(s)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Building off the success of its first Family Day event last fall, the Door County Maritime Museum announces the creation of Family Week, an event that will actually span two weeks, designed to encourage families to spend some of their Spring Break time at the Museum in Sturgeon Bay.
Any children, ages 17 and under, accompanied by a paying adult or adult Museum member will be admitted free to the Museum beginning Saturday, March 28, and continuing through Sunday, April 12.
The Museum is a great place to spend some of that vacation time!  There will be a children's activity or two in addition to the variety of kid-friendly attractions like the pilot house, periscope and interactives associated with the Freshwater Fury exhibit.
While the Freshwater Fury allows visitors to experience the affects of the greatest storm to hit the Great Lakes in 1913, the nuclear submarine periscope offers a fifth story view of the surrounding waterfront. Large-scale models, a striking lighthouse exhibit, boats and engines help to round out the Museum experience.
As an added treat, the Family Week offer will extend to the Tug John Purves after it opens for tours on weekends in April. Consequently, children will be allowed to board the tug free when accompanied by a paying or member adult. It should be noted, that a 42-inch height restriction does apply to tug tours.
DCMM membership a bargain--help us grow the size of the Crew!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

At the risk of being reduntent, I take this opportunity to repeat my tidbit on membership from the most recent e-news.

Membership--it is a bargain!  Just imagine how much better we could be if each member just recruits one new member.  Read on for more food for thought.

Tired of being bombarded with all the news about bank failures, stock market crashes and federal bailouts?  Me too!  Here's a little good news.  A family ("Crew") membership at the good ol' Door County Maritime Museum costs a mere buck twenty-five a week.  Yep, a paltry $1.25 per week!  Heck, you can't even buy a cup of coffee for that measly sum!  Remarkably, it's even less expensive for the single ("Captain...$0.67) or couple ("Mate"...$1.06) memberships!

Even more remarkable, for your dollar and a quarter the entire family can enjoy unlimited visits to the museum in Sturgeon Bay, the tug John Purves, the museum in Gills Rock, and the historic Cana Island Lighthouse--includes the tower!  If that's not enough, you receive a 15% discount at all museum stores and a subscription to the ever-popular Mari-Times newsletter.  Oh, almost forgot, you can buy passes to share all this with your visitors for less than half the price of normal admission. All for a $1.25 per week!  WOW!!

Do your friends and family a favor--share the wealth!  Cut them in on this amazing bargain.  It will be like rewarding them with a personal economic stimulus package!
Freighter Adventure!  (a reminder)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A wonderful opportunity!  As explained in our last e-news, our good friends at Central Marine Logistics are once again donating a trip for four adults on one of their lake freighters.  Raffle tickets for this extraordinary opportunity to experience maritime life on the Great Lakes are now on sale.  This is a cruise opportunity typically available only to the shipping company's customers and executives.  Three tickets have been mailed to each member--plenty more are available upon request...don't miss your chance to win!
