| Winter Speaker Series Schedule Change
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Winter Speakers Series with Christopher Winters has been rescheduled for Wednesday, 10 December 2008
Because of the snow storm predicted for Tuesday, the Winter Speaker Series event with photojournalist Christopher Winters will be delayed for 24 hours.
Chris will visit the Museum Wednesday evening to discuss his newest book "Centennial," a stunning piece of work commemorating the 100th anniversary of the carrier St. Marys Challenger and featuring Winters' captivating photography.
The Speakers Series is sponsored by the Friends of the Door County Maritime Museum, an organization dedicated to assisting the Museum both through fundraising projects and volunteer service. Admission to the program is free. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends groups. Donations will be appreciated. |
| Santa Visits the Tug
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Santa Claus is still scheduled to visit the tug John Purves on his pre-Christmas stops.
We are excited to announce that we have received confirmation from Christmas Headquarters at the North Pole that Santa will be stopping by the museum ship John Purves on December 13th. Unfortunately, recent ice formation on Sturgeon Bay will prevent Santa's planed arrival aboard a Coast Guard small boat. Santa will be arriving by more conventional means at 11:00 A.M. and will be available for visits and photo opportunities on the tug until 2:00 P.M. Cider, cookies, and video entertainment will be available in the Museum's Reddin Bridge Room for all good little boys and girls waiting to visit Santa on the tug. There will be a small $5.00 charge for photo with Santa aboard the tug. |
