Shelter Requests on the Risestory1

Despite some economic recovery, United Way 2-1-1 has seen an increase in calls requesting emergency shelter. During the first seven months of 2011, these calls rose by 36%.

While the number of people seeking shelters continues to increase, the resources available have not. There are 18 shelters, including transitional housing and homeless, domestic violence and ex-offender shelters, that serve Southwestern Indiana. Despite these existing resources, space remains limited and many people must go without shelter due to limited capacity.

Log-in to Our New On-line Community Resource Databasestory2

We started using our new database, ReferNet, on Monday, August 1. Along with the new database, we also have a new on-line Community Resource Directory. Be sure to check it out at: http://www.referweb.net/uwsi/

With this new system, agencies have the ability to log-in to the Community Resource Directory and update their information. Once on-line, an agency should look for the box that reads, "Service providers click this button to add or update your information in our database." Click the button and follow the instructions on the next page to obtain your user id and password.
