Back-to-School season is right around the corner! That also means children will need pencils, paper and other school supply necessities. The list of available school supply assistance in the area is available through 2-1-1. All agencies and organizations require children to be accompanied by parent or adult guardian.

through Vanderburgh County Health Department

 

The Vanderburgh County Health Department will administer free vaccinations for qualifying children at its office at 420 Mulberry St.

 

The following populations are eligible for the free services:

  • Children covered by Medicaid
  • Uninsured children
  • American Indian or Alaskan Native children 
  • Insured children whose insurance does NOT cover vaccinations
Appointments are available for Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00 a..m -11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Tuesdays are primarily for walk-ins, but limited appointments will be taken.

 

All children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children should wear short-sleeved garments. Be prepared for the visit to take an hour and be sure to eat and drink within two hours of coming in for vaccines.

 

IMPORTANT: Children with health insurance that covers vaccinations must contact their healthcare provider for services.

storyC 2-1-1 to Start Using ReferNet August 1

 

On August 1st, we are scheduled to begin using our new database ReferNet. With the new database, we will also be offering a new online resource database.  2-1-1 will be closed Thursday, July 28th from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., and Friday, July 29th from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m for staff training on this new system.

After three years of dedicated service, 2-1-1 is saying goodbye to Jan Martin as she begins her retirement. Jan has been with United Way of Southwestern Indiana's 2-1-1 part-time since 2008 and will be missed by the entire staff. Thank you for all your hard work and good luck, Jan!
