Day of Caring Volunteer Opportunities Due July 1

The Day of Caring is a community-wide event in which United Way connects businesses and volunteers with nonprofit agencies in need of help. In just one day, more than 800 volunteers donate their time and talents to meaningful projects that nonprofits might not otherwise have the resources to accomplish. This year's event will take place on Friday, September 9, 2011.

This Friday, July 1, 2011 is the last date to submit

volunteer opportunities for this year's Day of Caring.

To submit an opportunity, please visit our website at http://unitedwayswi.org/events.php?page=doc2011 to download the volunteer opportunity forms. storyA

Analyzing 2-1-1's Call Volume

At the beginning of each month, we look back at the previous month's statistics to determine trends or unusual activity. The first five months of 2011 is showing a three percent increase over 2010. Additionally, we have documented an eleven percent increase in providing referrals to community resources and in May, Food/Meals and Housing/Utilities account for over half (58%) of the callers' needs

What does this mean? More people need our help and they are calling with multiple needs. Every hour of every day, people need essential human services and 2-1-1 allows people to give help and to get help.story4

2-1-1 Provides Back-to-School Program Information

It's hard to believe that it's time to start thinking about back-to-school supplies and services, but we are already receiving calls requesting this information. If your agency offers a back-to-school supply program or you know of one that will be occurring, we want to know about it!
