United Way of Southwestern Indiana currently operates a 211 Information and Referral Center that serves Vanderburgh, Warrick, Spencer, Posey and Gibson Counties. Finding help can be a stressful, complicated task for Hoosiers, as they attempt to navigate a web of health and human service programs, often placing multiple calls to fulfill one need. The 211 information and referral specialists offer a 24/7, confidential source to connect Hoosiers to services like emergency food and shelter, counseling, assistance for the elderly, after school programs and much more.
We, along with our counterparts in the rest of the state, would like to ensure all Hoosiers have access to help when they need it most. This is very important. Please contact Congressman Ellsworth and ask him to support the Calling for 211 Act. 211 is the only public benefit three digit calling code, such as 911 and 411, without public funding.
