Greetings!
United Way is buzzing with activity! Our campaign officially kicks off Friday, September 12 with Day of Caring, our volunteer extravaganza for the community. So far this year, over 900 people have signed on to participate!
United Way has also just moved to a new office location - which is why we've been a little quiet. Don't worry - we've got a lot of activities for YLU on the horizon! In the meantime, please check out some of the volunteer opportunities we have for you, and join in if you can!
Sincerely, Michelle Ricketts United Way of Southwestern Indiana

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
|
Be a United Way Fund Distribution Volunteer! Each
year United Way depends on a group of 50 volunteers to invest
in local education, income and health programs. Program Panels of 3-4 volunteers
assess 5 or 6 United Way funded programs and make
recommendations based on their findings. Additionally,
the Audit Committee reviews the financial stability of our Partner
Agencies to ensure each donation is wisely invested. The panels meet
from October through March, for a total of a 20 hour commitment. Please contact Emily by 9/26 with questions, to request a volunteer job description, or to sign up!
Give 2.5 Hours for the October Phone Blitz! Join Co-Chairs Bix Branson of ONB & Keith Messmer of BKD for a United Way fundraising blitz. Volunteers work the phone bank, calling businesses to ask for support. A script is provided, as are snacks and fun prizes!
United Way Board Room, 501 NW 4th Street Thursday, October 9th Choose a Shift: 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. or 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. For more info, or to sign up, contact Michelle. |
What's New at United Way?
|
Check out our new local video: See how 3 volunteers make a difference through education, income and health programs. These are just a few examples of how, together, we create a better tomorrow for our community.
P.S. There are cameo appearances from a few YLU members - LaShone Gibson, Jennifer Barchet, Sean Browning, and Jonathan & Sarah McBride
New Office Location: Our new physical address is 501 NW 4th Street.

matching funds!
|
|
Your
gift can generate even more support for our community! Matching
funds are available this year thanks to the Indiana Association of United Ways
and the Lilly Endowment.
The funds will be
used to encourage growth in giving for Young Leaders United members to help get you to the $500+ leadership level. All new dollars that get you to that level will be matched.
Example: Donor A previously gave $0 and contributes $250 in 2008. This generates a $250 match and the
matching dollars will count toward Donor A being recognized as a YLU leadership donor.
Example:
Donor B previously gave $275 and contributes an additional $112.50 in 2008. This
generates a $112.50 match and the matching dollars will count toward Donor B
being recognized as a YLU leadership donor.
