Greetings!
Greetings from United Way!
Many of you volunteered for the Day of Caring, including the YLU project featured below. Thanks for your support! To see other photos from Day of Caring, click here!
We are busy at United Way, making plans for 2008 YLU events, recognition and trainings. Now is the time to share if you have an idea that could help shape the future of Young Leaders United! We'll keep you posted on what's in store.
Do you know anyone who might enjoy getting involved in YLU? If you do, why not forward this on to them?
Stay in touch. We like hearing from you, really!
Sincerely, Sara McGuyer United Way of Southwestern Indiana

| Spotlight: Born Learning Trail |
Thank you to those of you who volunteered on the Born Learning Trail, which was built on the United Way Day of Caring with the help of Young Leaders United.
Clay Sills, a Commercial Leasing Representative at Old National Bank summed the experience up like this:
"Helping to complete the Born Learning Trail was a great volunteer experience. It was rewarding to be part of a project that provides an excellent way for children to learn in an environment that is both safe and fun."
On October 3, Mayor Weinzapfel dedicated the new Born Learning Trail at a press conference. Two local preschools joined the mayor on a test run of the trail. >More photos!

| United Way Volunteer Opportunity - Fund Distribution Team |
What is a Fund Distribution Volunteer? Each year United Way depends on a group of 50 community volunteers to invest the dollars raised in our campaign in programs that make a difference in our community. Program Panels made up of three or four volunteers assess five or six United Way funded programs and make funding recommendations based on their findings. Additionally, the Audit Committee reviews the financial stability of our Partner Agencies to ensure each donation is wisely invested.
5 positions are open on the Program Panel.
2 positions are open on the Audit Committee.
The panels meet from October through March, for a total of about 20 hours time commitment. If you are interested, please contact us soon! The Fund Distribution Luncheon & Kick Off is Tuesday, October 23. Contact Melissa at mschmidt@unitedwayswi.org with questions, to request a volunteer job description, or to sign up to serve on the team! |
