Thanks for the work!

This month (and this summer generally) has been busy for us at ENCAP. It takes time and effort in keeping up with maintenance activities in our erosion control and native landscaping divisions, buttoning up new installs for the winter, and gearing up for next year in this period of economic uncertainty.  As the summer comes to an end, we would like to look back over the last few months and thank you for continuing to do business with us.

Just about everyone that recieves this email has contributed to our business in one way or another and we truly appreciate it.  It is impossible to individually note all of you in this issue of the newsletter, but it is possible to note some of the major native landscaping and ersoin and sediment control projects of 2008 and express our thanks.

Sincerely,

Carl Peterson, VP Consulting Division
Inland Real Estate Development-Somers Market Center Subdivision

The Somers Market Center will be the largest commercial development ever undertaken in the town of Somers, Wisconsin. ,

A co-located Wal-Mart and Sam's Club will anchor the shopping center subdivision, which will be located on the northwest corner of County Highway S and Green Bay Road, just a few miles north of Route 50 and Green Bay Road in Kenosha.  Somers Basin

The development plan for Somers Market Center calls for nearly 40 acres of the development to be part of a conservancy that includes upland low-profile prairie and naturalized stormwater detention facilities. The site is perched on a natural ridgeline with over 40 feet of topography change and contains three separate naturalized stormwater basins.

Bivins InspectsMatt Bivins from ENCAP has been handling on-site SWPPP management and erosion and sediment control inspections. His detailed inspections, consistent communication, and collaboration with Matt Fisette of Spaceco Inc and Tom Ness of Inland has ensured that this site is a model and example of NPDES compliance.

Somers Market Center is a premier example of the quality, commitment and results that can be had with the professionals at ENCAP. Inland's commitment to stormwater compliance has presented us with a great challenge that we have felt privileged to handle in every capacity possible.

Lennar Communities of Chicago - Ravenna

The Ravenna Community in Long Grove was originally developed by Ravenna EntranceConcord Homes and the individual lots were sold to custom home builders.  One of the last items to be completed on the land development side by Lennar Communities of Chicago on this project was the removal of a dam in an intermittent stream that flows through the property.

Ryan Inc.
The Project was managed by Rob Cerrado of Lennar Communities of Chicago with assistance from Rick Piggot of Cornerstone. Ryan Inc. performed the excavation and Emerald  handled erosion and sediment  control installation.
 ENCAP, Inc.
Working the ground was extremely difficult due to the saturated soil conditions.  When it was time for ENCAP to get the erosion control blanket down, we needed mud mats to walk on the slope without sinking.  We finally got it done and thank Rick Piggot for presenting us with yet another challenging site!

IDI - Antioch Corporate Center

ACC Site plan
As the newest business park in Lake County, Antioch Corporate Center offers sites from 2 to 100 acres only 1.5 miles from the !-94 Interchange.  All of IDI's corporate parks in Illinois have utilized native landscaping.  This time they are taking it even further.

The park features many native landscaping applications in the stormwater management areas as well on upland berms and perimeter parking.  IDI intends to pursue LEED certification for many of the buildings on the site.

ACC Building

ENCAP is proud to team up with Ryan Central Inc, again on the native landscaping and erosion control installation. We thank John Benson of IDI for the opportunity.

Hartz Construction-Playa Vista

Play Vista Hartz construction is building an active adult community in Plainfield Illinois.  The site features three naturalized basins in addition to all the other amenities that go along with low maintenance living.

We thank Bob Topar and Dave Ihle for giving us a shot at the native landscaping and erosion control services for the site.

Spring Lake Shoreline ErosionWiseman Hughes - Spring Lake
A collaborative effort between Wiseman-Hughes Homes, the City of Aurora, and Fox Valley Park District has resulted in a massive restoration effort at Spring Lake in Aurora. The lake has been subject to years of wave action and ice shear, resulting in extensive shoreline erosion. Through an agreement with the City of Aurora and the Fox Valley Park District, Wiseman-Hughes has contracted with G.A. Blocker Grading and ENCAP, Inc. to complete the restoration efforts.

Spring Lake GradingFresh topsoil was imported to the site and the shoreline graded to allow a new emergent planting zone along the entire shoreline. The grading efforts and native plantings will allow Spring Lake to establish permanent vegetation along the shoreline to reduce erosion and break up ice shear and wave action on a long term basis.

Spring Lake Installation
In order to establish a native emergent planting zone along a 10-foot wetland shelf, ENCAP, is installing carp exclusion fencing and SC-150BN to stabilize newly spread topsoil and native emergent seed. The project also includes establishing low profile prairie in the sloped areas above the shoreline stabilization.
