Wait5

Wait Five is a brand new band based in Birmingham, Alabama.   It's simple, really: if we like it, we play it. This leads to some pretty eclectic playlists, spanning blues, country, jam band, pop, rock, etc. Crazy! We like to describe ourselves as a 60-disc changer on random. But hey, that's how people listen to music these days. The playlist has replaced the album, and Wait Five is down with that. If you don't like what we're playing, wait five minutes.

What a Group!  We are so excited to have Wait 5 back at Wine'd Down this Thursday night.  Do not miss them!

Foris Gewurztram                         White Wine in glasses

Bees wax, lemon peel and lychee nuts. Mid-weight, bright and clearly focused. Very spicy in the Gewurzy sense. Does not show any obvious sweetness, just well ripened fruit. Complex, though not subtle. Plenty of acid, but still mouthfilling and complet

Foris Pinot Gris

Starts with bright aromas of grapefruit and stone fruits. Medium bodied with a soft acidity, but still racy, even spicy. Minerals, lime and a tight core of tangerines on the palate. More citrus throughout the mouthwatering finish. Crisp and refreshing, it should make beautiful drinking throughout the spring and summer.

Foris Fly Over White

Subtle aromas of bananas and citrus woven amid wet river rocks and minerals. Melange of citrus and melon on the palate, reminds me of the musque clone of Sauvignon Blanc. A fascinating mineral streak overlaid with lime and peaches. Light to medium bodied; crisp, focusing acidity

Foris Barrel Fermented Chardonnay

Slightly smoky aromas of juicy peaches with very subtle hints of butter and minerals. Medium to light bodied. Supple on the palate with nicely integrated acidity. Peachy, but with a hint of citrus, maybe lime. Showing minerals on the finish. Mildly toasty. Long trailing finish with some spice.

Foris Merlot

Aromas of smoky, freshly crushed berries. Dense and chewy on the palate. Creamy flavors of raspberry, black cherry and a hint of chocolate. Hints at the forest floor flavors typical of Rogue Valley reds. Fully ripe tannins, and subtle framing acidity. Youthful and relatively tight, it will certainly benefit from aeration at this early stage in its development.

Foris Fly Over Red

Medium-deep ruby color. On the nose, Cabernet Sauvignon is immediately noticeable. Spice, cedar cigar box, and cassis. On the palate the jammy merlot becomes evident, along with more spice from the cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Fairly complex flavors. Subtle acidity and mild tannins nicely frame the deep, jammy fruit. Long, plumy finish. Thoroughly spicy. Drinking very nicely right now. Time may further mellow it out a bit, but it is not necessary.

wine in cellarBuchli Station Chardonnay

Bright and fruity, Buchli Station Chardonnay shows flavors of pears, peaches, tropical pineapples, and a touch of vanilla. With just the right balance of fruit flavors, acidity, and creamy texture, this wine is versatile and very easy to enjoy.   This lovely Chardonnay pairs well with a wide range of foods, from a crisp Caesar salad to zesty crab cakes, from pasta tossed with herbed chicken to halibut sautéed in citrus-infused olive oil.

Lockwood Sauvignon Blanc

Melon rind and green pear fruit, are carried by aromas of ripe ruby grapefruit. This exciting wine style can be enjoyed all day long with lunch, picnic fare, or evening cuisine enhanced by a rich expression of Sauvignon Blanc.

Arancia Nero D Avola

Nero d'Avola is a local Sicilian varietal that was first cultivated only in the area of Siracusa, but has since spread throughout every Sicily.  This grape produces a livery red wine with deep colors and zersty fruity characteristics.  It goes well with risotto, baked pasta, red meats, game, lamb and seasoned cheeses.

Estancia Zinfandel

This wine displays a deep scarlet red hue in the glass. Beautiful aromas of ripe cranberry/boysenberry  with dark chocolate, nutmeg, cedar shavings and vanilla. A full flavored Zinfandel that will pair nicely with food. Delicious flavors of licorice and cinnamon are accented with bright flavors of raspberry and cherry. Hints of creamy vanilla and spice fill mouth for a long smooth finish.

Cucao Cabernet

This outstanding Cabernet hails from Espinoza's family vineyard, with vines that were planted by his father and raised organically. This high-altitude plot in the Maipo Valley gets everything it needs: temperate weather and fertile, loamy soils. Forward red and black fruits are lush and mouth coating, while chewy tannins offer a powerful grip. Aged 10 months in barrique. Utterly captivating

We will see you all soon.

Sincerely,
