Greetings!

March is here and you can just feel spring in the air.  It makes me want to go somewhere to hang out with all of my friends and have a few drinks, and some laughs.  Wine'd Down is the perfect spot for both!  We have launched the new wine list and it is proving to be a huge hit.  We look forward to seeing you at both wine tastings this week.  Each wine tasting will be full of new and exciting products to Wine'd Down.  This is the best way to try before you buy!  So, come see us this week!
Wednesday Wine Tasting:
In 1973, Gary Eberle began his career in the wine industry by heading his family's Estrella River Winery (currently Meridian Vineyards in Paso Robles) and produced 500,000 cases a year at its facility. Eberle's pioneering spirit didn't stop there. In 1980, he co-founded the Paso Robles Appellation and in 1983, Gary opened the doors to his own Eberle Winery with the premiere of Eberle's 1979 Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Eberle handcrafts 25,000 cases of wine each year from surrounding Estate vineyards. And, after 25 years since the release of the Eberle label, the winery consistently remains one of the highest award-winning wineries in the United States.
Gary Eberle is also responsible for introducing Syrah to the United States.

You do not want to miss this very special wine tasting!

Chardonnay

The result of an epic vintage, the 2006 Estate Chardonnay exhibits a combination of lemon and citrus aromas with rich flavors of pineapple, pear and green apple rounded by a touch of vanilla oak. A delightful, crowd-pleasing wine to accompany any fine cuisine or enjoy by the glass!

Steinbeck Syrah

Enticing, opulent flavors of ripe blueberry and black cherry are accented by hints of sweet vanilla oak and white pepper. A true 'Rhone-style' syrah that will gracefully age over the next several years.

Steinbeck Wine Bush Zinfandel

This Zinfandel showcases two of Paso Robles finest Zinfandel vineyards: the reputable Steinbeck Vineyard contributes layers of sweet briar fruit with hints of earth and minerality blended with Wine Bush which offers robust color and rich, jammy flavors of prune, ripe blackberry and a peppery finish. This is an exquisite example of Zinfandel displaying a well-balanced

combination of elegance with richness of fruit and depth making it a perfect wine to complement a variety of foods.

Cabernet Vineyard Select Sauvignon

A beautiful blend of four Paso Robles vineyards, with an abundance of wild berries flavors, sweet toasted oak and bright juicy tannins that is fruit-forward and ready to enjoy now.

Muscat Canelli

Eberle Muscat Canelli reveals floral aromas of orange blossom and ripe melon merging with hints of citrus and orchard fruits. It's semi-sweet and clean, with a long finish. Perfect as an aperitif or dessert wine.

Santa Alicia Late Harvest Muscatel, Maipo Valley '04. The grapes that went into this Chilean dessert wine remain on the vine until the beginning of winter, which ensures a high level of natural sugar. Likewise, fermentation at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks preserves the fresh, sweet aromas and flavors of pineapple, peach, melon and honyesuckle. A perfect match with fresh fruit or ice cream, it is even better as a dessert on its own!

Quivira "Steelhead Red" Rhône-Style Blend, Dry Creek Valley '04.This Rhône-inspired wine expresses Quivira's passion for two Dry Creek Valley traditions: blending varieties to make the finest wine possible and wise stewardship of the land. It honors Quivira's commitment to restore, through work with organizations like California Fish and Game and Trout Unlimited, the steelhead and coho salmon habitat on its estate. The 2004 vintage is a synergistic blend of grenache, mourvèdre, syrah, and zinfandel. It exudes aromas of violet and lavender, followed by lush, rustic flavors of strawberry jam, cranberry, and blueberry, combined with hints of toasty spice. A better wine for a better world and the official wine of Trout Unlimited. Awarded 84 points in Wine Enthusiast (11-15-06).

Victor Hugo "Hunchback" Red Table Wine, Paso Robles '05.This medium-bodied wine from Paso Robles, California, is a salute to the classic French novel Notre-Dame de Paris. A fruit-driven blend of merlot, syrah, cabernet franc, and petit verdot, it exhibits aromas and flavors of cherry, plum, and black currant. An ideal accompaniment to free-range chicken roasted with lemongrass, garlic, and sage.

Victor Hugo Zinfandel, Paso Robles '06. This full-bodied wine exhibits aromas of blackberry and notes of white peppercorn and toffee. Rich tannins and berry flavors are complemented with spicy oak and a long, piquant finish. Great with black grouper accompanied by beurre rouge (shallots, thyme, peppercorns, and red wine vinegar reduced in zinfandel, mounded with butter).

Twenty Rows "The Grappler" Red Blend, Napa Valley '05. This intense zinfandel blend was named after the owners' sons, who have dedicated a lot of time to the sport of wrestling! Consisting of 58% zinfandel, 30% syrah, and 12% cabernet sauvignon, the wine is characterized by deep, concentrated color and aromas. Seamlessly integrated flavors of ripe, spicy cherry and tobacco are accented with notes of cedar and black pepper on the finish. Enjoy with steak au poivre.
