Wednesday Wine Tasting
6:00pm - 7:30pm |
Seven Daughters
With many things in life the whole is greater than thesumof its parts. Although different grapes all belong to the same family of fruit each has its own distinct characteristics and flavors. When blended together in a single bottle they harmonize to add depth and character to a wine. Seven daughters is a blend of 33% Chardonnay, 20% Riesling, 20% Symphony, 18% Muscat, 5%Gewurztraminer and 4% Sauvignon Blanc. The results are wonderful crisp fresh fruit and spice. It is perfect for sipping of pairing with light pastas, sushi of Thai dishes.
Vina Godeval
The Godello's aroma is delicate. The palate is an echo and continuation of the nose, with somewhat greater depth. The key fruit notes are peach, apricot, lemon and grapefruit, all expressed with lively acidity. The floral notes are best likened to wildflowers, a field's worth. The wine is so well integrated that fruit and floral ride in tandem almost as one entity, leading to a satisfying citrus peel finish. It is all a considerable package.
Toscolo Chianti
Color: Bright ruby red with a slight purplish tint. Aromas: Loads of sour cherry and plums with persistent overtones of rose petals. The mouthfeel is light, tart, almost levitates on the tongue. Plummy and floral, herbal and minty flavors dissipate quickly in the simple clean finish.
Tres Picos Garnacha
The grapes for this exceptional wine were harvested from old vine Grenache vineyards that cling to rugged terrain on the slopes of the famous Moncayo mountain. Low yields of less that two tons per acre produce a rich deeply colored and aromatic wine with concentrated flavors of blackberries, strawberries with hints of leather, vanilla and plums. It is Dark ruby-purple in color with rustic blackberry and licorice aromas. In the mouth this is a rich and powerful wine with concentrated black cherry and blackberry flavors finishing with white pepper and dusty tannins. A delicious value in old vine Grenache! |

Friday Wine Tasting
6:00pm - 7:30pm |
Terre Buena
The wines of Terra Buena originate in the high regions of Mendoza, Argentina, at the foot of the Andes. Here, in the gravelly, well drained soils and the alternating cool nights and warm days, our grapes develop a complex, deeply fruited core of flavor that results in wines of clean minerality and intense focus. Torrontes, the national white grape of Argentina, ispicy, aromatic, and exotic. It makes a delicious aperitif and a fine accompaniment to sushi and shellfish. Torrontés originated in Spain and has adapted itself beautifully to the Mendozan terroir. The wines of Terra Buena originate in the high regions of Mendoza, Argentina, at the foot of the Andes. Zumaya Tempranillo
An important red wine grape native to northern Spain and widely cultivated
in the northern and central parts of that country. Tempranillo produces its best
results in the cooler growing regions of Rioja Alavesa, Rioja Alta, ribera del duero, and parts of penèdes. In these areas, Tempranillo can generate deep-colored wines with characteristics of strawberry, spice, and fresh tobacco. Because of its lower acid and alcohol levels, Tempranillo is usually blended with other grape varieties. It's a principal component in the famous rioja wines, which are usually blended with Garnacha (grenache), Mazuelo, and graciano. Opaque purple color and classic aromas of flowers, black currants, leather, smoke
and vanilla make this blend of 65% Tempranillo, 25% Cabernet & 10% Merlot a
powerful and full-bodied yet harmoniously integrated and silky-textured blockbuster
of a wine.
Vina Borgia
This 100% Garnacha (Grenache) from Campo de Borja* was vinified all the way in stainless steel. Campo de Borja is located in the political region of Aragon. This region is west of Barcelona and northeast of Madrid, just north of Cayalyud and Cava.
Color: Deep purple ruby, semi-opaque. Aromas: Blackcurrant jam, cassis liqueur, plum, and hints of white pepper. On the tongue the body is medium with plenty of peppery young tannins. Then a plethora of dark fruit essences evolve in a dusty dry finish.
The Black Chook Sparkling Shiraz
As the bigger sibling of Woop Woop, the Black Chook once again represents a collaboration between Ben Riggs, winemaker at Penny's Hill, and Tony Parkinson, proprietor of
Penny's Hill. This non vintage wine sparkles to the tune of a well balanced blend; predominantly 3 year old Shiraz, aged in old French oak barrels showing wonderful smooth
integrated fruit and a rich weighty texture across the palate. This is blended with a touch of younger vintage Shiraz bringing ripe juicy fruit characters to the finished product. The fruit is sourced from premium Shiraz growing regions including McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek with the result being a rich, luscious Sparkling Shiraz that is well balanced and destined to compliment pork and turkey or any occasion to celebrate!!
