| Wednesday Wine Tasting |
Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon The cooler temperatures during the 2005 harvest allowed for longer hang time on the vines, producing well structured and classic Cabernet wines. The blend is unique since they make the wines from diverse vineyard sites, including high elevation rocky soil vineyards that produce concentrated wines as well as Napa Valley floor vineyards that produce wines with elegance and finesse. The color is purple, ruby red, with aromas of blueberry, cassis and mocha. The entry on the pallet is rich and fruit forward, with jammy flavors, good structure, acidity, and sweet balanced tannins.
Joel Gott Chardonnay 06 Monterey The Monterey appellation is one of the most diverse and climatically cool grape growing regions in California. The fog and cooling air from Monterey Bay slow maturity and allow the grapes to develop classic varietal characteristics, and a natural balance between sugar and acidity. This environment hasproduced a Chardonnay that has pure flavors of citrus, pear and jasmine with bright acid structure. This purity is preserved by fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks, and the prevention of malolactic fermentation. This is simply a clean, crisp, delicious Chardonnay unfettered by toasty oak or buttery lactic acid flavors.
Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc The 2006 California Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of wines made from vineyards in Monterey, Lake and Napa Counties. The cool ocean air circulates through the vineyard in Monterey, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly for maximum flavor development, lending tropical aromas that penetrate through tothe final blend. The deeper flavor profile and more serious texture comes from the warmer regions of Napa and Lake Counties. Fermented in 100% stainless steel, this wine exhibits aromas and flavors of passion fruit, melon, citrus, and hints of jasmine. The palate offers succulent sweet fruit that leads to acrisp, citrus clean and long finish. A screw cap enclosure and UV safe green glass ensures that the wine maintains freshness throughout its life.
Joel Gott Zinfandel Joel Gott Zinfandel combines old-vines Zinfandel (97%) with Petite Sirah (3%) for additional spiciness and complexity. This California Zin brings together old-vines grapes from top vineyards in Napa Valley, Lodi, Sonoma, and Amador counties. The wine is a deep ruby/purple color with a vibrant nose of black raspberry, black cherry, plum, cola, tobacco and spicy oak. Medium/full in body, it is bright and assertive with soft tannins and bold flavors of black cherries, raspberries, plums, maple and spice. Aged 10 months in French and American oak barrels, 30% new. Well structured and complex, it offers beautiful balance and a long smooth finish. |

Foris Fly-over White
Subtle aromas of banans and citrus woven amid wet rocks and minerals. A wonderful abundence of melon and citrus on the palate. A fascinating streak overlaid with lime and peaches. Light to medium bocied; crisp, focusing acidity. Extremely versatile, this wine should provide excellent drinking over the next two years.
The Quarterback Red
The Wine Advocate A proprietary blend of equal parts Shiraz, Grenache, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2004 Quarterback spent 12 months in a combination of American and French oak. It offers a dense ruby/purple color along with terrific fruit intensity, excellent purity, and notions of licorice, pain grille, and spice box. Plump and opulent, it is best consumed during its first 6-7 years of life. Score: 91. -Robert Parker,
Vivacious Vicky Red
Vivacious Vicky Red is a delightful blend that makes any occasion a special occasion. Careful and considerate blending using flavor and drinkability as the objective yields some truly great stuff! Viva Vivacious Vicky!
Lagaria Chardonnay- Trentino Alto Adige, Italy
Brilliant wine at an exceptional price. Well-balanced , subtle and unburdened by excessive or cheap-tasting oak. The flavor profile is what you expect from a good chardonnay-apples, lemon and nuts with nothing intrusive.
Canella Bellini-Veneto, Italy
No artificial flavors in this sparkling spectacular cocktail. Perfectly ripe white peaches paired with raspberries and Canella Prosecco.
