Friday Wine Tasting
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Villiera Chenin Blanc, Stellenbosch '06
Villiera was among the pioneers of wooded Chenin Blanc in the Cape. The aim was to produce a rich, ripe wine that could handle a dimension of oak and would improve over an extended period of time. Forty percent of this wine was fermented in oak, while the balance was fermented in stainless steel. It shows notes of intense fruit including pineapple, guava, and citrus, along with a hint of wood spice on the nose. On the palate, the wine is rich and full-bodied with excellent balance and a long finish. May be cellared or enjoyed young.
95% pinotage & 5% muscat de Frontignan, this versatile rosé boasts radiant pink hues and aromatic layers of strawberry and watermelon. It is crisp with a refreshing finish. Enjoy with salads, picnic-style lunches, or cold meats, or simply on its own.
Composed of 52% merlot, 39% cabernet sauvignon, and 9% pinotage, this red blend is vibrant ruby in color and exhibits densely layered blackberry fruit and a chocolaty richness. Softly structured tannins underpin luscious fruit and oak vanillin, while a well-rounded mouth-feel leads to a lingering finish.
This wine consists of 65% cabernet sauvignon and 35% Shiraz. It boasts a vibrant red color as well as notes of smoky spice, blackberry, plum, and red fruit. Lush berry succulence and smooth tannins characterize the palate sensations, while well-integrated oak elements add subtle complexity. Ripe sweetness and a twist of roasted spice appear on the finish.
