Wednesday Wine Tasting
         6:00pm - 7:30pm

Shooting Star Aligote:

The wine is crisp and clean, a wine with a nice balance of fruit and acidity. Flinty, mineral elements mix with a light floral hint on the nose, followed with the suggestion of tart/sweet apple on the palette, making it a wonderful, versatile food wine.

4 Bears Sauvignon Blanc:

Our Sauvignon Blanc is rich and complex with aromas of ruby grapefruit, citrus and tropical fruit. On the palate, the combined flavors of fresh melon, fig and lime are balanced perfectly to form a crisp, mouthwatering texture and a lingering finish.

Pierr Spar One:

In the glass, this Pierre Sparr Alsace wine is a pale citrine-yellow color with a brilliant clean and clear appearance going out into a faint glass-clear rim definition and high viscosity.  On the nose, there are warm, ripe, floral white fruit notes, with pear sparkler, apples, mango, peach, apricots, hints of crushed almonds, white cranberry juice and fine minerals.  In the mouth, the wine is rich with balmy fruit flavors, including pears, apricots and white cranberries, then nicely layered with a balanced texture through the midpalate, showing decent acidity levels, red apples and sweetish minerals. The finish is a smooth and soft one with yet more pears and hints of citrus, while retaining a good "bite" through to the end with a touch of lemon drop.

Castano:

A gorgeous colour to this wine, a bright and vibrant cherry red, with some density. The nose is simply bursting with ripe, chewy, juicy black cherries and other black fruits, with some root liquorice. Rich, juicy and mouthfilling on the palate, with some ripe tannins and fairly low acidity. Plenty of fruit, good extract. This is a lovely, approachable example of the grape variety, for current drinking.

Toscolo Chianti:

This wonderful Chianti is pungent with earthy blackberry aromas.  The flavors of black cherry and cola lead into a smooth finish with ample tannins and an appropriate dry quality.  This is a solid wine with a firm feel and modest oak.  Good stuff for everyday trattoria fare.

Friday Wine Tasting
  6:00pm - 7:30pm

italian vinyard

Cartlidge  and Brown Chardonnay:

The 2004 Chardonnay gave us a very exciting and especially rich style Chardonnay. The blend represents a variety of growing regions and vineyards, for the most part our long term contracts, but some new sources as well. Ripe, lush aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, pear, and orange peel are enhanced by clean oak spice and the creaminess of malo-lactic fermentation. The palate is especially full and smooth in texture, with loads of ripe citrus, juicy pear and tangerine fruit.

Borthwick Sauvignon Blanc:

The 2004 Sauvignon follows on from the legacy of the previous 4 gold medal wines. Aromas of gooseberry, guava and pineapple, supported by intense flavors of tropical fruit resulting in a wine with great balance, structure and finesse

Foris Fly Over Red:

The aromas are distinctly southern Oregon- cedar, dark fruits, earth, and saddle leather. Lush purple Merlot fruit suggests itself first on the palatte, followed closely by the depth and structure of dark, ripe Cabernet Sauvignon, and an infusion of blueberry and chocolate on the finish from the Cabernet Franc. A subtle smokey spiciness from a judicious use of a percentage of new French oak barrels. The overall balance and depth will reward both early drinking and patient cellaring.

Li Velli Passamannte:

Deep ruby red colour with violet huges, full and persistant fragrance, marked by fruit from prune and cherry; notes of crackled pepper; strong body; on the palate, warm and radiant, flavours of pulpy fruit with structure and compact body; a long finish with scents of raisens and almonds.

Cruz de Piedra Garnacha:

Intense red berry flavor's give-way to  an attack of spice. Smooth as silk on the palate with great structure and balance. This wine is spicy, warm summer fruits (redcurrants, blackberries) followed on from the ripe, fruity nose. It has really good depth of fruit on the palate, with a gorgeous texture and a spicy/peppery fin ish. Supple tannins on the finish which is impressive in its length. Extraordinary value wine, made from 60-100 year old Grenache bush vines.
