Are you ready for some T & A?
We are very excited to have Tracey and Alan back at Wine'd Down this week!  We love the energy and excitement that these two guys bring to the place.  We are definitely in need of a  "Social"   And if you are looking for great music and great fun, you need look no further!  Tracey and Alan supply both.  With hits like (Faith, Drift Away, Jack & Diane, Lay Down Sally, Meet Virginia, Bad Day, Hey There Delilah, and the hits go on and on and on) these two guys keep the crowd going all night long!  They are a must see!

Wait 5

 wait 5 two

Wait Five is a brand new band based in Birmingham, Alabama.
It's simple, really: if we like it, we play it. This leads to some pretty eclectic playlists, spanning blues, country, jam band, pop, rock, etc. Crazy! We like to describe ourselves as a 60-disc changer on random. But hey, that's how people listen to music these days. The playlist has replaced the album, and Wait Five is down with that. If you don't like what we're playing, wait five minutes.

Farnese
Trebbiano
d'Abruzzo

Former 'White of the Year' Trophy winner from an Italian estate that's a byword for quality and value.

Mouthwateringly crisp and fresh Trebbiano grapes are hand-picked from vineyards high in the Abruzzo hills and gently oaked in the cool cellars of Casale Vecchio (the old castle) under the watchful eye of winemaker Filippo Baccalero. The result: freshly-sliced pear and ripe melon flavour, mouthwatering crispness. Try with antipasto, seafood risotto, or as an apéritif.

Dry Creek Fume Blanc

Our Fumé Blanc's quintessential varietal character has made it a benchmark Sauvignon Blanc in California and a flagship here at the winery. This vintage exhibits aromas of lemon-lime, grapefruit, melon and lemongrass. Its flavors follow suit with the addition of gooseberry and a subtle note of minerality. The wine's crisp acidity cleanses the palate and invites an array of foods, including goat cheese, seafood, and fresh oysters.

Fleur Petite Sirah

Fleur de California's Petite Sirah displays intense aromas of blueberries, peppercorn and nutmeg. Dark in color, once in the mouth, it explodes in flavors of blackberries, vanilla, spice and a hint of black pepper. This is a nice quaffing wine that finishes smooth yet bright and is best served with barbequed pork ribs, teriyaki beef dishes or any type of wild game.

Cartlidge and Brown Zinfandel

Full, ruby color, with ripe, spicy aromas of plum, blackberry, anise. The mouthfeel is broad and full-bodied and the flavors show plenty of black cherry and plum fruit. A suggestion of oak adds notes of smokiness and rootspices.

Two Brothers Red

Aromas of ripe berry and plum set the stage for an explosion of fruit in the mouth.  With flavors of black cherries and cocoa, that all come together on the rich lingering finish; who could ask for anything more?

Time to get ready for Halloween Tasting!

Vampire Merlot

An intense dark plum bouquet typical of a very young wine is just starting to open up and reveal the full, true character of this wine. The wine's lively, dark purple color will destroy your carpet so be careful! Already the soft fruit flavors are starting to integrate well with the powerful structure of this wine, which marries soft tannins with vanilla hints of fine American oak. Made in the modern reductive style, this wine is perfect to enjoy now but has the structure to age for many years. A big wine, Vampire Merlot can take on the biggest char-grilled steaks and barbequed pork cutlets that you can throw at it, but it also has the fine elegance of this classic variety, allowing it to be served at parties with buffet foods and dips.

Vampire Cabernet

This bottle posseses the hallmark characteristic of the Cabernet variety, a wild spicy nose with bell pepper tones that the French call "Sauvage." Intensely dark purple in color, this full bodied wine has a rich fruit flavor and complex oak structure. Vampire Cabernet is a well made, modern example of the "king" of red wines, with fine tannins and a mixture of 70% French and 30% American oak. This wine has been put through a longer than normal macceration period in anaerobic conditions and at al lower temperature to extract maximum fruit intensity and structure from the ripe grapes. Only the free run juice of the grapes was selected for this wine - the wine resulting from the press was separated and used elsewhere, creating a soft wine without the harsh tannins which are contained in the skins and seeds of the grapes which are crushed during pressing.

Ghost Gum

A full-bodied, big red but soft and juicy with it. Generously fruity with ripe red fruits with an edge of spice and liquorice; a touch of vanilla oak too. If you enjoy the richly fruited Aussie wine style then this Ghost Gum should be high on your must-try list.

Ghost Gum Chardonnay

Not what you might expect in an Australian Chardonnay!  This wine's got an enticing bouquet of apple and honeydew melon, but it's the faint hint of eucalyptus that makes this wine stand out from the crowd.  It is firm and clean on the palate with a crisp mineral-like character on the finish.  Quite elegant!
