Are you ready?!  Our annual Early Bird sale is this Saturday (November 19) starting at 6am!  You won't want to miss it.  Arrive early for the best savings.

Early Bird Sale

Sale limited to stock on hand. Half-yard minimum cut required on fabric cut from bolts. All items in our "Hold" basket will be returned to inventory on Friday afternoon prior to the Early Bird Sale. Sale excludes all quilt kits.

Another annual event, our Sample Sale, will begin the day after Thanksgiving, November 25 and continue through the end of the year.  For those of you who have asked whether we ever sell our shop samples, the answer is "Yes!" and here is your opportunity to purchase something special. Once a year, The Granary's staff offers some of their meticulously handmade samples for sale just in time for the Holidays.  The selection will change weekly as new samples become available. No credit cards will be accepted for the purchase of samples; cash is preferred.

Holiday Community Service Project
Our Holiday Community Service Project has begun. Once again this year we will be supporting Sunnyvale Community Services. For more than a dozen years, SCS has provided a "Christmas Store" where its clients are afforded the dignity of selecting a two-week supply of food, new gifts for infants through teens, and a household gift (towels, blankets, basic kitchen items). Last year, over 1,100 families were served! Imagine the quantities involved for gifts and a two-week supply of groceries for that many families!

We have started our SCS collection a little late this year. To make it easier for you to donate we're suggesting the donation of gift cards. Especially helpful are $10-$20 gift cards to Target, Walmart, or any grocery store. Most grocery stores have a "Gift Card Mall" to make your shopping easier. If you would prefer to donate the actual gift, please visit the SCS website for a list of their most needed items. We will accept donations through Wednesday November 30.

All you have to do is bring your items to the Granary by November 30 and we'll take care of the delivery to SCS! When you bring your donations to the Granary, you will receive a raffle ticket for each item you donate. In January, we will raffle a gift basket including a Granary gift certificate and other great quilting supplies, including books, patterns, fabric, notions and more!
Scissor/Knife Sharpening

Sharpening Mechanics will be back at the Granary on Saturday, December 10 with their sharpening equipment from 10am-1pm.  Drop off your scissors and knives any time before December 10 or come by that day and shop while your tools are being sharpened. Prices range between $5-$10 depending upon the "dull" factor of your knives and scissors; pinking shears $10. Cash or check only.

Longarm Quilting Services

Balloons"Sewfie" celebrated her 1st birthday last month!  Our Gammill Statler Stitcher has been given quite a workout in the last year quilting well over 200 quilts for staff and customers.  We'd like to remind you that the holidays are approaching at a speed that is hard to comprehend!  If you are thinking you would like a quilt quilted to give as a gift you'd best start planning!  In order to guarantee that your quilt will be ready by December 15 (to give you time for binding, etc.) we are asking that you bring it to us no later than November 23 (the day before Thanksgiving....keep in mind that we will be closing at 2 on the 23rd). Please call in advance for an appointment with either Paula or Jody.  One or both are in the store almost every day so you're sure to find a time that works for you.  If you'd like more information about our quilting services, click here.

Happy Hour

October Happy Hour Quilt

To the left is the festive quilt Paula created using October's fat quarter collection and the pattern Forest Reflection from Cozy Quilt.  There are plenty of patterns in the shop for you to create your own forest reflection!

Below is the fabric collection Jody will use in the quilt for November.  This month you will receive a packet of 10" squares better known as a "Layer Cake".   Stop by the shop or call to reserve your set!  If you can't make it to Happy Hour we're happy to hold your fabric and pattern for you.  Our next Happy Hour is Friday, November 25  6:30-8pm.

Cotton Club Block of the Month

Cotton ClubIt's not too late to sign up for the Cotton Club BOM program featuring patterns and fabrics designed by Bonnie Blue Quilts! The fabric collection was created around an antique border print from the mid 1800's, along with antique coordinates in varying shades of red and brown. The 78" x 85" quilt contains 45 sampler style 5" blocks set in vertical pieced columns. We call this a "blocks" of the month program because you will receive patterns for 4 or 5 blocks each month. The blocks are designed and grouped together utilizing a specific technique or similarity in block design, progressing from the easiest to the more challenging techniques.

The Cotton Club program began in September and will run through August 2012. Kits run $24.95 plus tax per month; shipping is available for an additional cost. Call the shop today or come by for more details and to see our completed shop sample made by the Granary's Kris Clarkson! It's beautiful! This quilt is recommended for intermediate to advanced quilters.
