October....are you ready for Halloween?... Thanksgiving?.... Christmas?!  The shop is brimming with new fabric just waiting to be made into new table runners, wallhangings, holiday gifts and....of course QUILTS!!  The weather is supposed to turn a bit cooler for the next fews days which should get you in the "quilty" mood!

 

If you're thinking of signing up for a class then now is the time to do it!  Quite a few classes are full and we don't want you to miss out on the fun!  Don't forget that we've added a second Buggy Barn BOM class in the afternoon on the last Wednesday of the month (starts October 26) from 2:30-5:30.  The evening class is full but there are a few spots left in the afternoon class. Paula & Jody are thrilled that so many of you are excited about this new BOM!

 

Bramble BerriesSpeaking of Buggy Barn....the Buggy Barn fabric (Bramble Berries) has arrived and is flying out the door!  This is the beautiful fabric you see pictured in their newest book, Still Crazy.

Mystery Step of the Month 

Mystery 6On Friday September 23 we held our 6th Mystery Step of the Month Reveal! Click on the image to the left for a slideshow of the wonderful quilts revealed. You will be amazed at how different each quilt looked even though everyone used the same pattern. Everyone has agreed that a mystery is the best way to do what looks like a complicated quilt!

 

Our seventh Mystery Step of the Month began on September 23.  Jody has selected a pattern that you are sure to enjoy....very few triangles!  The first clue was distributed at the party but it's not too late to start!!  Each additional step of this 6 step pattern is available on the first of each month! In March 2012 we'll hold our next Mystery Quilt "reveal" party where you can bring your completed mystery quilt top so that everyone can "ooooh" and "awwww" over it.

Scissor & Knife Sharpening 
ScissorsScissor and knife sharpening services are now available through the Granary! On Saturday, October 15, from 10am-1pm Sharpening Mechanics will be at the store with their sharpening equipment. Drop off your scissors and knives any time before October 15 or come by that day and shop while your tools are being sharpened. Prices range between $5-$10 depending upon the "dull" factor of your knives and scissors; pinking shears $10. We are hoping this will be a successful event so that we can continue to offer this convenient service to our customers! Cash or check only.
 

Happy Hour

September Strip QuiltTo the left is the gorgeous, fall inspired quilt Carol created using the strip set available for September's Happy Hour and Cozy Quilt's pattern, Harvest. There are a few of the beautiful strips sets available in the shop as well as the Harvest patterns! 

 

October's Happy Hour will feature this beautiful collection of 12 fat quarters.  Stop by the shop or call to reserve your set!  If you can't make it to Happy Hour we're happy to hold your fabric and pattern for you.  Our next Happy Hour is Friday, October 28  6:30-8pm.

Cotton Club Block of the Month 

Cotton ClubWe are so excited to announce that the Granary will be offering the new Cotton Club Blocks of the Month program featuring patterns and fabrics designed by Bonnie Blue Quilts! The fabric collection was created around an antique border print from the mid 1800's, along with antique coordinates in varying shades of red and brown. The 78" x 85" quilt contains 45 sampler style 5" blocks set in vertical pieced columns. We call this a "blocks" of the month program because you will receive patterns for 4 or 5 blocks each month. The blocks are designed and grouped together utilizing a specific technique or similarity in block design, progressing from the easiest to the more challenging techniques. 

 

The Cotton Club program will begin in September and run through August 2012. Kits run $24.95 plus tax per month; shipping is available for an additional cost. Call the shop today or come by for more details and to see our completed shop sample made by the Granary's Kris Clarkson! It's beautiful! This quilt is recommended for intermediate to advanced quilters.
