Ok....where did January go?!...and is it really February? It feels like May! Between the weather and the daily arrival of fresh, Spring fabric your senses are sure to be fooled!

The Granary Getaway will be upon us in the blink of an eye! Join Paula, Jody & Mary Kay at the Granary for 4 fun filled, sewing days! Terry Atkinson's Minnesota Hotdish will be Paula's pattern of choice. You will love how this complicated looking quilt goes together! Jody will guide you through the Abbey Bag (a flower pincushion/scrap bag) from Abbey Lane Quilts. Mary Kay has created another original just for you! Be sure to sign up so you're not left out! Saturday-Tuesday, February 26-March 1, 10am-4pm.

"Sewfie" (our new Gammill Statler Stitcher) is ready to accept customer quilts! So that we are assured that we have time to spend with you when planning your quilting we are asking that you call the shop to schedule a "quilt check-in" appointment. Stop by the shop and visit with Paula or Jody for more details.

McCall's Design Star Challenge

The results are in and Kathleen Whiting is the Grand Prize winner of the McCall's Contest. Mary Kay would like to thank everyone who voted for her and supported her. She received the news that she was a "runner up" and that more information would follow. We're so proud of you, Mary Kay, for all the creativity and dedication it took to compete in this challenge. And thank you for sharing your talents with the Granary! You're the winner as far as we're concerned!

Two New Block of the Month Programs Begin in February!

Be Merry / Paula Ivers & Julie Cefalu

Paula and Julie have teamed up again for another fun-filled block of the month program for 2011. This year's quilt is called "Be Merry" and was designed by the talented girls at Bits 'n Pieces. The quilt is Winter themed featuring blocks of snowflakes, trees, a snowman, stars and more. If you prefer an Autumn look, Paula and Julie will offer alternate blocks featuring leaves, pumpkins, and birds. This program is designed for the advanced beginner to intermediate quilter and will focus on precision cutting, piecing and pressing so that this quilt and all your future quilts will go together in a snap. Changing Seasons /
Angela Bonomo

Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring are Linda Howell's 33" x 45" Changing Seasons Block of the Month wall hangings. One of the blocks in each season's wall quilt features a quaint house and tree which change with each season; other blocks of seasonal motifs are unique to each wall quilt. We'll begin with Spring in February and move on to the Fall wall quilt half way through the year. You will learn various techniques in machine piecing and fusible machine appliqué-or hand appliqué if you prefer. Tulips, a bunny and a pieced basket with yo-yo flowers are a few of the designs you will be creating for Spring. Let's do something different and make a seasonal wall hanging that you will get to use every time the seasons change. Members will receive a kit for that month's section of the 33" x 45" project. If monthly meetings don't work for you, you can pick up your kits at the shop or they can be mailed. Membership fee is $25 per month and is offered by automatic credit card billing only. The fee includes your monthly class, quilt pattern and fabric for each of the blocks. Improve your hand or machine appliqué skills with an expert! Classes begin in February and meet on the third Saturday morning of each month from 10am-12pm.

Happy Hour

January Happy Hour Quilt Stop by the shop for an "up close and personal" look at the gorgeous quilt Paula created using January's strip set! There are just a few strip sets available so hurry in!

We will be using 2 1/2" strips (pictured below) once again for February's quilt creation. Dianne Sheppard will be unveiling a beautiful quilt on Friday February 25 at 6:30!
