| Cinnamon Sticks |
 Thanks to those of you who participated in our Cinnamon Sticks/Friendship Triangles program! Because of you, the program was successful beyond our expectations. We collected nearly 14,000 friendship triangles! It took us a little longer than we anticipated to sort and divide all those pieces.... they are now ready for you to pick up! We are so anxious to see what everyone will do with their collection that we have already planned a Friendship Triangles Show-and-Tell party on Friday evening, June 4, at 6:30pm. We hope that gives you ample time to at least piece the "top" of your project; after all, the hard part is done--the half-square triangles are already pieced! Have fun with your project--we can't wait to see it! Please let us know if you plan to attend the party; reminders will be sent out through our email updates. Thanks again!
Our next Cinnamon Stick program will begin on May 1. We are already starting to collect patterns for this next round! More details will be coming in the next few weeks. |
| One Million Pillowcase Challenge |
As we said in our last email, the Granary will be participating in American Patchwork & Quilting's One Million Pillowcase Challenge! We're excited to be a part of this great program that will continue throughout 2010. Check out their website for the current count (over 34,000 as of this writing!) of pillowcases collected and links to free pillowcase patterns. The Granary will be listed as a participating shop any day now!
We've collected over 25 pillowcases since we announced our participation less than 2 weeks ago! Wow....imagine what that number will be by the end of 2010! Pillowcases will be donated to various charities over the next few months. Currently we are collecting pillowcases for the adult oncology unit at UCSF. We will also be donating pillowcases to adults and children through several other organizations...the details are being worked out now.
 Your pillowcases will provide comfort for a cancer patient, hope for a foster child, encouragement for a battered woman, or beauty for a nursing home resident. It's a great way to give back to the community! Pillowcase kits will be available in the shop for you or we're always ready to help come up with that special combination! We will also be scheduling a few pillowcase "sew-ins"! You may drop off your completed pillowcases at the shop |
