So last time we let Gus, our mascot, introduce himself. Hopefully by now, everyone reading this newsletter has followed his activities over at our blog. Don't forget that all of our blog posts are fed to Twitter, so if you’re just wanting to get a taste of all the happenings here at Dirxion, make sure to follow us. While we’re on the topic of the blog, you may have noticed that we have a new contributor - Brad Gorman. Brad has a thorough working knowledge of social media and online marketing. We are excited to have him on board as he's going to be a great asset to the Dirxion team.

Customer feedback continues to be a vital source of creative development for us. As of late, our focus is on continued user enhancements, search engine optimization, and revenue strategies that drive the return on your investment higher than ever. A key decision factor for many of our customers continues to be the value we place on providing more than just a simple page flip publication. We strive to provide a dynamic and very customized user experience based on your input. Watch for changes coming soon that will give you, the publisher, even more choices for your digital publications.

Another area of emphasis for Dirxion has always been customer satisfaction. And while we realize that aiming for 100% of our customers to be completely satisfied may be a bit lofty, we do want to acknowledge the customer-centric focus that each and every one of our project coordinators and production teams embodies here.

As always, your comments and feedback are welcome.

Distributor Versioning

One size doesn’t always fit all. But with Distributor Versioning you can now publish multiple versions of your digital catalog to fit everyone’s needs. Elements may be dynamically customized for each of your distributors, so you can now give them their very own catalog covers, branding, contact information, links and quote / order forms... at a very low cost to you!

Beyond the dynamic design elements, with Distributor Versioning you can also accommodate a number of e-commerce arrangements.

Twitter IconModel 1
Multiple sources (companies or individuals)
pull from one common (yet dynamic) catalog,
but sales link back to everyone’s own individual
e-commerce sites (or Dirxion provides interactive order forms).

Twitter IconModel 2
Multiple sources share one common catalog
that links to multiple e-commerce sites
(for specified account groups).

Twitter IconModel 3
Multiple sources share a common catalog that
links to one e-commerce site but within that
site it gives the sales credit to its originator.

When changes within the publication are necessary, the largest advantage of Distributor Versioning is that instead of having to update numerous pages across many different versions, page updates and pricing changes are all completed from a single source, minimizing the initial costs as well as the ongoing maintenance. Something that used to be a burdensome task now becomes very manageable. By updating new pages and pricing in this manner, you also reduce the risk of mistakes.

Are You Using Social Media?

With two-thirds of marketers now using social media, and an increasing number of retailers shifting marketing dollars towards social initiatives, it seems as though social media is reshaping marketing as we know it.

Rather than bore you with a stream of value statements relating to social media (we’re sure you’re well aware), we’re going to share with you how a few of our clients are using social media marketing to effectively promote their digital editions and how you can be doing this too. The proof is in the puddin’, eh?

Twitter IconMoosejaw & Twitter
Moosejaw is one of our clients that regularly use their social media outlets to promote their new digital catalogs. For their last launch, Moosejaw retweeted all their customers who tweeted and talked about the new catalog.

To put things into perspective, Moosejaw (@MoosejawMadness) has 3,059 followers on Twitter and their followers also have their own followers. When someone on Twitter uses the retweet function they are essentially forwarding Moosejaw’s message to everyone in their circle. So, assuming they have an average of 100 followers each; that means through one simple task Moosejaw is close to reaching 300,000+ people!

Twitter is a great social networking tool that can build your brand 160 characters at a time. Like Moosejaw, you can use it to drive more page views from a targeted audience of followers.

Envelope IconThe Missouri Society of CPAs & Email Marketing
The Missouri Society of CPAs recently added a digital edition of their publication The Asset. They chose to use a quick email blast targeted at their subscribers to let them know that a digital delivery was now available. Email campaigns are still great for generating conversions like this. After the first day, their clear call to action lead to over 200 subscribers making the move to their digital edition.

Facebook IconBallard Designs & Facebook
Amid a number of different ways to communicate with their audience, Ballard Designs chose to make promotional use of Facebook. If you visit their page you can see that they have spent some time building an online community through their Facebook Fan Page. This is a great platform for your loyal customers to collaborate on your products or services. When we finished their digital edition, they made a short post on their wall about the interactive online catalog. In just a couple weeks Ballard Designs has seen more than 10,000 customers access their new digital edition!

We are absolutely blown away that these clients have used the power of social media to expand their network. These online arenas make it very easy for companies to engage and interact with their audience. And remember, building your own social media outlets is not just useful for promoting your digital edition; it’s great for promoting everything. Use these networks to offer special promotions, coupons and sales. Gather feedback to better understand customers’ needs. Promote the launch of new products or features. The viral nature of social media allows marketers to effectively encourage customer behavior. Within these networks, your targeted audience can communicate, interact and ideally, purchase.

Social networks like Facebook and Twitter are completely free, so as you can see, your investment of time in social networks can really deliver great benefits for your business. There is simply no other low-cost promotional method out there that will give you the same opportunity to reach such a large audience.

  • We will soon be introducing an exciting new program that goes beyond anything that directory publishers have ever been able to offer to their advertisers. This should prove to be a very simple yet effective way to drive new revenue from your yellow pages advertisers. Watch for it to be sent out in a special announcement email.
  • iNews: A primary benefit of providing an online version of your directory is the ability to add new advertisers throughout the year. With the Dirxion i-New tab, publishers can simply submit new advertiser listing and ads in the same PDF format that would go to the printer. The new pages are fully searchable within the directory search and are identified as new advertisers. This is a great way to add new businesses that want to get a jump start on advertising or even businesses that simply want to advertise only in the online directory. Sometimes jobs can be hard work, and then you receive a compliment like this and it keeps you going.

"Davidson Titles has looked at utilizing interactive catalogs for several years, but the choices were just too cost-prohibitive. Recently we had noticed an increase in the use of interactive catalogs in the publishing industry, so we started investigating our options again.

We were actually very close to going with another company when, strictly by chance, we discovered Dirxion and their perfect solution to our interactive catalog needs. Dirxion offered much better features and customizable options that were just what we were looking for. After a few quick phone calls the process was underway, and within two weeks Davidson Titles had its interactive catalogs online. The production team at Dirxion knew just what we were looking for in the finished product and delivered it exactly as we had envisioned.

I don’t believe we could be any more pleased and would like to thank everyone at Dirxion for a job well done. Personally, you’ve made my job much easier and made me look good in the process. I look forward to a long relationship with Dirxion in the future."

Davidson Title’s eCatalogs use a great looking multi-publication interface, custom background and the new catalog library search. They also went through the effort of redesigning their website to give their new digital catalogs a more significant presence.
