Letter from Director of Sales

Before we pull out the looking glass for 2009, let's take a look back at this year. First, we want to thank all of our existing and new customers. We have grown by almost 40% this year and have seen an increase in demand for all of our product lines. We are ecstatic over the increasing number of publishers that are realizing the value in going digital.

Most publishers start out simply wanting to have their publications online, but many of you have made considerable strides in driving revenue from your digital publication by utilizing our additional services. Without giving away any secrets, here are few ideas that have definitely worked:

  • Online order forms for international or exclusive customers
  • Video and flash ads for display ads and products
  • SEO-friendly community pages
  • E-mail marketing
  • Rapid turn flyer production
  • Increased circulation by way of CD distribution

Beyond driving revenue into the publication, many publishers are seeing the benefits of decreasing their print runs and saving postage. Below are a few ideas we’ve heard from Clients:

  • Reducing the print run based on the number of excess publications remaining at the end of the year
  • Providing online-only supplemental publications
  • Sending out a CD as an alternative to print
  • Giving users the option to get instant access to the online version and wait for the next print edition to come out

Based on our publishers’ questions and comments throughout 2008, we have developed a number of improvements to our product. Our release of a major new platform for our non-directory customers came with EdgeClix in October. Don't worry directory customers, your new version is not too far behind, but we know how important search is to directory users, so we wanted to make sure it was given the same upgrade treatment.

In addition to a new interface for directory publishers in 2009 (oops, maybe I'm not supposed to tell anyone yet), you'll also see improvements and new initiatives in the following areas:

  • Search Engine Optimization - It's at the top of the list for a reason. We have already started by hiring an Internet Marketing Specialist who has been instrumental in reviewing our platform and building our blog, which is full of good customer information and strategies for success.
  • More interactivity - Driving your customers to the online publication is very important, but we want to keep them there with ever-increasing interactive enhancements.
  • More platforms - Smartphones and iphones continue to grow in market share as do desktop widgets and we plan to expand our offering in both of these areas.

We’d like to thank you for your feedback, support and for challenging us to provide the best possible online publishing solution. For these things we are very grateful. We look forward to helping you succeed throughout 2009 and beyond.

Best wishes this holiday season,

Mark Thomas
Director of Sales & Marketing

Dirxion Steps Up its Digital Publishing Platform with EdgeClix

Last month, we launched EdgeClix, an impressive new version of our digital catalog, magazine and travel guide solution that takes digital publishing to the next level. (Directory publishers, no worries; we will release EdgeClix for directories in early 2009!) Entirely Flash-based, EdgeClix comes with incredible speed, boundless customization and a consistent user experience across all platforms.

A few of the highlights:

  • Incredible speed increases both searching and page loading time no matter what type of connection a user has.
  • Viewability - We have always had a full screen format and the latest version creates even more space for the pages while still allowing users to navigate to other web pages.
  • Flexibility - Whether online or off, users across all versions of Internet browsers and operating systems will enjoy the same experience.
  • Polygon Linking Tool - Now when your customers mouse over a product image, the associated product description will highlight as well!
  • Information Rollovers – Product rollovers are dynamically sized pop-up windows that enable you to update information on the fly, so you’re always able to offer your customers the most up-to-date and reliable information.
  • Click in/out, multi-level zooms.
  • URLs that can prompt installation of desktop icons for e-mail campaigns.
  • Animated, multi-publication landing pages.
  • Textured backgrounds or wallpaper behind the catalog for enhanced customization.
  • Spanish, French, Chinese, and Japanese interfaces with more available upon request.
  • Uniform platform between Online/CD/USB/Download.

"Dirxion has worked diligently to produce a new user experience," says Steve Mitchener, President & CEO of Dirxion. "This new interface addresses our need for an industry leading green product. Even more importantly, it positions the publisher to reduce or replace the print product while still retaining all of the print revenue through a digital product. The sky is the limit for features to this new platform. Dirxion has met the challenges of many publishers and we expect many more in the future."

Dirxion Takes USB Flash Drive Duplication to the Extreme

One of the easiest and trendy ways to distribute your digital publication is to have us put in on a branded USB flash drive. Generally, people absolutely love flash drives (especially free ones), and giving these out will not only make your customers happy, but it will also increase usage of your digital publication.

USB Duplicator

Since Dirxion does quite a bit of work with USB flash drive campaigns, acquiring an ultra fast USB drive duplicator was essential. The unit you see pictured below can pump out an astounding 100+ drives per hour, which makes even the largest of campaigns more efficient and easier to manage.

If you have any questions about distributing your publication on USB flash drives, or if you want more information, please contact us (888)391-0202 or sales@dirxion.com.
