Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania
Spotlight on STEM

For two weeks during July, 29 Girls Scouts from Eastern Pennsylvania participated in an exciting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) summer camp at Philadelphia University. With help from the United States Navy, the University, GSEP, and the Philadelphia and Norristown Area School Districts, students were exposed to new educational opportunities and potential future careers. Scouts constructed water-powered energy generators, programmed automated guided vehicles, and debated their positions on alternative energy. Afterwards there was a special closing ceremony at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia where participants received a tour of the laboratories and discussed what they learned at camp with Navy officials.

100th Anniversary Highlights

12 girls from Troop 72134 made a special trip to Savannah, GA in July to celebrate the 100th Anniversary. For the past three years they planned and fundraised for their trip and got to meet other Girl Scouts from all over the country!

On May 19th Troop 7330 held a 100th Anniversary Rally. There were several interactive stations for SWAPs, the Forever Green Project, and they also collected food donations for the Narberth Community Food Bank. At the end of the day there was a dance party in celebration of them earning their Bronze Award for the event!

Troop 2359 traveled to Savannah in June to also celebrate the 100th Anniversary. These eight girls learned more about Juliette Low through the Heritage Day program and bridged from Juniors to Cadettes in the garden of Juliette Low's house!
