Final Camp Jam Contestants Rocked the Open House on June 7th
The thirteen Camp Jam finalists arrived at Camp Laughing Waters on Saturday, June 6, for a weekend at Girl Scout camp. Their mission? To prepare for the final Camp Jam competition, hosted by Radio Disney 640AM, and to learn more about Girl Scout camp in a fun and exciting new way! Camp director Amy Hollaman and the counselors kicked off the experience with some real "get to know you" camp fun. The girls also got tips from a professional makeup artist, took a tour of the camp, made crafts, and enjoyed a visit from emcee Stylin' Steph. The day, full of food, fun and fellowship, ended with a campfire and plenty of s'mores. The girls were up early the next morning to perfect their moves to the Miley Cyrus hit "Hoedown Throwdown," under the direction of Stylin' Steph, and to rehearse their individual performances to compete for a week of camp.

And, the winner was...Emily Rose Murasso, 14, of Bethlehem. Emily wowed the crowd, and the judges, with her hip-hop dance moves. The judging panel included our own CEO Ann Meredith, West Chester University drum major Rachel Smolinsky, and Tina Wells, CEO of BUZZ Marketing Group. Everyone who competed and attended had a chance to enter to win tickets for a family of four to see "The Little Mermaid" on Broadway and enjoy dinner at a New York restaurant, compliments of Radio Disney 640AM. The Disney-prize winner was Quakertown 5th-grader Arianna Boccardi, another Camp Jam finalist who performed an amazing rendition of "Defying Gravity," from the Broadway show Wicked. Her performance was certainly inspired by a Girl Scout trip she had the day before, a live performance of Wicked, complete with a backstage tour.

A gallery of pictures, interviews and performances, including the final group number featuring all the competitors are all available for viewing on Facebook,

The Times Herald
(daily newspaper serving Norristown and surrounding communities in Montgomery County)

Sunday Times
(daily newspaper in Primos, serving surrounding communities in Delaware County)

Power99FM
(WUSL-FM 98.9, hip hop, and rhythm and blues)

And don't miss related coverage in The Reporter about Troop 71030, which has seen increases in older-girl membership.
