| Greetings! |
I am always amazed when it is time to write this newsletter again. My mantra seems to always be, "Where did the month go?" Years ago I remember pondering the seemlingly impossible feat of slowing down time. While I knew that this ageless question had been asked by many before me, I also knew that I would have to discover the answer for myself.
My answer formed as I re-read Echkart Tolle's, The Power Of Now. He reminded me that when I was stuck thinking about the past and the future, I drained myself of opportunities to receive the present moment. Days could go by unanswered because I was too busy planning my life. Another school year gone, another birthday and once again I ask myself, "where did the time go"? Sound familiar?
Tolle taught me that when I am present, time stands still.
It's that simple the masters say. Show up for the moment and you can slow down time. Train yourself to be present and you can learn to experience your life so that it doesn't fly by.
But we must train ourselves and hatha yoga and mindfulness meditation are two wonderful practices that help us build such skill. We also must stay committed and disciplined to our practice. It will not happen by accident and there are no short cuts. But I do believe that it is worth the effort.
Don't let another day fly by. Verge Yoga is willing and ready to support you.
Namaste,

For many years I was practicing yoga at home and occasionally went to different yoga studios. Some of them had good teachers and some of them had an inviting atmosphere. I was never flexible and some poses were too complicated for me. However, doing yoga felt wonderful and it kept me coming back to practice.
At Verge Yoga I found both of these qualities in one place. In this studio I understand that the physical part of yoga is less important for me than mind control. Whenever I am going through stressful periods of my life I depend on yoga. It really helps me to stay emotionally and physically balanced. Sometimes my relatives and friends ask me, "How do you manage stressful situations so calmly." My answer is always that yoga helps me to get through it.
For me it was a big deal to find the right place to practice yoga and I am happy that I found Verge Yoga. |
| Staff Spotlight: Christine Reiss |
Christine Reiss | My name is Christine and I have worked at Verge Yoga now for over six months ~ after being at home raising my five children for (gasp!), almost twenty years. Coming to work at Verge Yoga has been a tremendous experience for me. I get to meet and work with so many wonderful people and enjoy a practice that I love, one that began for me over thirteen years ago. Fitness and sports have been a beloved life-long pursuit. Yoga was, so I thought, one such pursuit. As I started to practice regularly, I noticed how it changed my body and allowed me to become stronger and more flexible. However, as I grew in my practice, I noticed a more significant change, one that was internal. I discovered that on my mat, I tap into many different places, among them joy, prayer, tears, struggle and peace. I realized that what I am experiencing on my mat is exactly what occurs out there in the real world. This physical and emotional evolutionary process keeps drawing me back.
Life is truly a journey that is meant to be mindfully experienced and I continue to grow and learn each and every day on my mat and in life. Blessings to all.
