Soul on Fire
 | The most powerful weapon in the world is the human soul on fire.
~ Ferdinand Foch, French Soldier 1851-1929
I came across this quote in a Tweet last week and it literally knocked my socks off. It hit me right in my heart and sunk in deep. I have not stopped thinking about it since.
What we aspire to do at Verge Yoga everyday is to provide you all, our students, with a consistent and challenging daily practice so that you can set your soul on fire. Once on fire, the world and your life will explode with opportunities.
Once on fire, you will never look back.
Humbly,
Cara Bradley, cscs, e-ryt Director

 | I signed up for February's Brand New Beginner class because I was finding it difficult to climb to my third floor gym at home. We all know of the studies that conclusively connect exercise with good health and feelings of expanded self-confidence and well being. I believe those studies, and have concocted an evolving exercise program that has twisted and turned itself into a fascinating journey for me. But, late last fall I became stuck. I wasn't doing my program primarily because of familiarity, but mostly because of boredom. I went online and ordered two yoga DVD's. I was doing one of them at home. But I wasn't getting feedback that let me know if I was doing the poses correctly. It felt inauthentic; something was missing. I visited a couple of studios and chose Verge Yoga for two reasons. One was the friendliness of the staff. The other was the heat. Both occupy position 1A. The disciplined and deliberate method of the BNB series turned out to be a perfect introduction to Yoga. Class by class the poses in the Stationary Sequence were revealed to us to be a logical chain of movements that test your body, mind, and spirit. You must breath, be present, and employ an evolving idea of good judgement. It is said that eventually yoga becomes a spiritual practice. I hope to test that hypotheses. The invitation to join any of the SS classes when enrolled In BNB offered me an opportunity to see what being a member of the yoga at Verge Yoga was all about. The original reasons I found have held up: the friendliness of the staff and the heat. |

 | In talking to other yogis, I've realized that many, including myself, came to yoga at a time of great challenge in our lives ... a time of soul searching and reaching out for peace, clarity, and consolation. Story after story convinces me that coming to your knees in surrender is often the beginning of very positive, life-altering changes. And a yoga practice not only mirrors and complements this surrender, but serves as a powerful catalyst in actually manifesting this change in your life.
When I come to my mat, I try to focu on each breath as a new beginning ...an opportunity to open up, reinvent and recognize the infinite possibilities in my life. I'm currently exploring these ideas with one of my favorite authors, Carolyn Myss in her works: Invisible Acts of Powerand Defying Gravity. |
