Poll shows strong support for improved GDL law in Pennsylvania
A recent poll in Pennsylvania shows that a majority of residents support stronger Graduated Driver Licensing laws for teen drivers in that state. 75% of those polled were in favor of restrictions on the number of teen passengers allowed for teen drivers. Pennsylvania currently does not have a passenger restriction as part of their GDL program.
Legislation (HB 9) is currently under consideration in the Pennsylvania legislature that would create a passenger restriction for new teen drivers, as well as increase the number of required supervised driving hours during the learner permit stage from 50 hours to 65 hours. HB 9 has passed the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and is awaiting action in the Pennsylvania Senate. |
