May 20 is the deadliest day of the year for teen drivers

For five consecutive years, more teen drivers have died on May 20 than any other day of the year.

To draw attention to the tragic toll of teen driving crashes, Allstate is sponsoring "Blackout Week" on Facebook.  They are encouraging everyone to black out their Facebook profile picture through Friday (May 27) to show support for the STANDUP Act.

May is National Youth Traffic Safety Month ... how will you take action?

May is National Youth Traffic Safety Month (NYTSM).  Created by the National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS), National Youth Traffic Safety Month "empowers youth to develop and lead traffic safety education projects and support law enforcement and effect legislation to protect teen drivers."

The Saferoads4teens Coalition participated in a NYTSM expo on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, May 11 providing information about youth traffic safety to legislators and Congressional staff.

You can acknowledge NYTSM by taking action to promote the STANDUP Act.

The Safe Teen And Novice Driver Uniform Protection (STANDUP) Act is federal legislation that would compel states to strengthen their laws for novice teen drivers, often called Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) laws.
