2011 Roadmap to State Highway Safety Laws
Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety has released their eighth annual report card grading all 50 states and the District of Columbia on their performance in adopting 15 basic, lifesaving highway safety laws on teen driving, occupant protection, and impaired and distracted driving. This year's report focuses on the correlation between the lack of highway safety laws and needless state expenditures.
The report features the best and worst performing states; states making the most and least progress over the past year; dangerous loopholes in each state that contribute to preventable death and injury; and state-specific data on traffic deaths, injuries, and related economic costs. Click here to see the full 2011 Roadmap to State Highway Safety Laws. The press conference announcing the 2011 Roadmap report featured STANDUP Act supporter Marlene Case of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, whose 17-year-old son Andrew was killed in a crash with a teen driver in November 2009. To read some of the widespread coverage about Mrs. Case's powerful remarks, click for articles in The Pottstown Mercury and The Philadelphia Inquirer. |

Help Us Put a Face on the Issue of Teen Driving
The most powerful and persuasive way to educate lawmakers about the STANDUP Act is through personal stories, particularly stories from parents who have lost a child in a teen driving related crash.
If you or someone you know has a story about a teen driving crash that you would be willing to share, please contact Jenny Cheek at the Saferoads4teens Coalition by clicking here or calling 202-408-1711. |
