"Age 29" Dependent Coverage Extension

 

Since 2009, young adults through the age of 29, who do not have access to employer-sponsored health insurance, are permitted to continue or obtain coverage under their parent's policy.  The young adult must live or work in NY, be unmarried, not insured or eligible for insurance through an employer, and not covered under Medicare.  The young adult does not have to live with the parent, be financially dependent on the parent, or be a student.  To learn more about this type of health insurance coverage, contact the NY Department of Financial Services.
