Have you looked at your E-ZPass statement lately?
The Chamber is heading to Washington D.C. on May 9th and 10th to continue our fight against the high tolls that put Island businesses at a competitive disadvantage. We want to show our representatives in Washington D.C. how tolls hurt Staten Island Business!
Let us know in a paragraph or less how tolls have impacted your business and send them to mmclaughlin@sichamber.com. Read this example from Small Business Committee Co-Chair Robert Cutrona "The recent toll increases on the three NJ Port Authority bridges have resulted in a substantial negative impact on our ability to do business. Our pre-tax profits are lower due to the increased tolls as we run three to four trucks daily over the P.A. bridges to New Jersey. More importantly, we can no longer compete with New Jersey firms as they do not have the toll burdens that we in Staten Island have. The playing field is no longer competitive. The higher transportation expenses and the loss of business to New Jersey based firms will result in an estimated 35% lower profit in 2012."Robert Cutrona President Project One Services, Inc. ______________________________________________________
