MTA Payroll Tax Repeal Takes Effect

In December, Governor Cuomo signed a bill sponsored by Senator Lanza to repeal the MTA Payroll Tax for 80% of businesses and schools.   The repeal went into effect April 1, 2012 and will result in $320 million of new tax relief. Read more about the MTA Payroll Tax here.

State Sales Tax

As of April 1, 2012, shoppers no longer have to pay the state sales tax on clothing and footwear purchases up to $110. This tax repeal will save a typical family of four almost $200 a year! Get more information about the tax exemption for clothing and footwear  here.
