MTA Payroll Tax Repeal Takes EffectIn December, Governor Cuomo signed a bill sponsored by Senator Lanza to repeal the MTA Payroll Tax for 80% of businesses and schools. The repeal went into effect April 1, 2012 and will result in $320 million of new tax relief. Read more about the MTA Payroll Tax here. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- State Sales Tax As of April 1, 2012, shoppers no longer have to pay the state sales tax on clothing and footwear purchases up to $110.
