Call to Action!

The Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Staten Island businesses, residents, and elected officials, has been vocal in the fight for fair and equitable tolls in our community.

Read more about what the Chamber has been doing to combat onerous tolls that put Staten Island businesses and residents at a competitive disadvantage, then write Governor Cuomo's office in Albany asking him to re-examine  disastrous toll hikes.

Social Networking- Commit Don't Quit

Social media is more popular than ever.  Businesses that use social networking as a business tool need to create a social buzz. So let's get social!

Social networking is a means for you to connect your business with others. Just like in school be in the popular crowd. The more popular and social you are with your page, the more your company will be liked and followed. A very successful social networker will use sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter for everything from job recruitment to sales. Social networking can and will translate into real business benefits.

To ensure that your social network runs smoothly, I suggest   that you maintain and monitor your page often. Make the choice to commit and keep a plan in motion and that you are able to update pages at least 1-3 hours per week. Devotion is key. I know that it will take time to set up and maintain, but once your page is up and running it will work in your favor. Nothing happens overnight and time and perseverance along with devotion and taking control will cause an influx of interest in your business. People will look on-line at businesses prior to approaching your business so it is of the utmost importance to create a social site.

Companies that rely heavily on using external social networks scored 24 % higher than those companies that chose not to participate.Remember that to draw people onto your page you need to  establish a great look , make sure all posts are up  to date, showcase clients and most of all invite people  to events such as The Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours. Direct your clients to the Chamber's Facebook page to promote the camaraderie of Staten Island's business community working together.

Facebook has over 1.5 billion active business pages with an  average usage of more than 55 minutes per day. Utilizing social networking will build and reflect on business relationships  using specific groups. Don't  be afraid when it comes to social networking as it will hinder your business. Commit-Don't Quit!
