New Orleans East and Gentilly were the focus of the latest ReLeaf New Orleans initiative by Parkway Partners to replace the thousands of trees that came down in Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent flooding of the city. 300 volunteers successfully planted crepe myrtle, savannah holly, magnolia, and redbud trees throughout their neighborhoods. Since the storm Parkway Partners has been responsible for the planting of 9000 trees and counting.

    Johnson will host Community/Schoolyard Garden
    Council

With partners from across the City, Johnson School is poised to be the first Parkway Partners combination Community/Schoolyard Garden. On December 4 the project was launched with a tree planting of Parkway Partners donated trees to circle the schoolyard. On hand were a diverse group of volunteers from local neighborhood associations, community gardens, and Priestley Charter and Johnson Elementary Schools.
