Green Greetings
For more than 25 years, Parkway Partners, the City of
New Orleans Department of Parks and Parkways and
citizens from neighborhoods throughout the metro

| Gardener Spotlight |
 |
|
15 years ago community gardener Jorge Donaire
created a unique composting techique. He digs a 15"
deep square trench which when filled will become the
planting bed. Each day he puts one layer into the
trench starting with grasses then soil, then manure
rotating layers for 6 days until filled. Using this
method planting can take place on the 7th day. Jorge
is developing a video on U. S. gardening methods to
send back to his home country of Hondras.

|
National NeighborWoods Month was created by the
Alliance for Community Trees to celebrate the benefits
of trees in the places people live. They encourage tree
