    Gardener Spotlight
    jorge

15 years ago community gardener Jorge Donaire created a unique composting techique. He digs a 15" deep square trench which when filled will become the planting bed. Each day he puts one layer into the trench starting with grasses then soil, then manure rotating layers for 6 days until filled. Using this method planting can take place on the 7th day. Jorge is developing a video on U. S. gardening methods to send back to his home country of Hondras.

National NeighborWoods Month was created by the Alliance for Community Trees to celebrate the benefits of trees in the places people live. They encourage tree planting events and tree care, creating tree canopies that increase the health and livability of neighborhoods for us all.
