| Volunteers make a difference! |
 |
|
Thanks to CH2MHill staff who volunteered to
rehabilitate SunDone Community Garden near Dillard
University. The workers helped to install a needed
water system and readied the garden for neighbors
and school children who plan to plant flowers,
vegetables and herbs.

| Teachers visit Parkway Partners Teaching Greenhouse |
 |
|
Thirty-two Orleans Parish Public School teachers
learned how to incorporate Science activities into the
garden with JoAnn Albrecht, Program Development
Director and the Audubon Institute. Visiting the
greenhouse, a community
garden and the tree lot were part of the highlights for
the teachers who are also eager to plant trees on
school campuses. Working together we hope to
expand our successful Schoolyard Garden project by
building additional vegetable, herb and butterfly
gardens and by planting fruit trees throughout the
school yards.

| Neutral Ground Partners |
 |
|
Tyronne Smith, our newest neutral ground partner,
has adopted Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd between
Feret and LaSalle. The nearby Magnolia tree is part of
the ReLeaf New Orleans initiative and sponsored by
Councilwoman Stacy Head.Parkway Partners
Program is eager to partner with
citizens and the City of New Orleans Department of
Parks and Parkways in maintaining a section of
neutral grounds keeping it clean, cut and watered.
|
| Neutral Ground Signs |
 |
|
After Hurricane Katrina we discovered that many of our
neutral grond partners lost their Parkway Partners
signs. We are now gathering the names of "active"
partners who need a sign and/or post replaced. We
will also provide signs to recognize our new partners.
To be added to the list contact Deb Graham at 504 -
620 - 2224 or at dgraham@parkwaypartnersnola.org.
