  • Time To Plan Neighborhood Tree Planting Activities

Let's continue our efforts to ReLeaf New Orleans. Talk to your neighbors NOW to begin planning your neighborhood tree planting projects. The planting season extends from October-March and we want to be ready. Parkway Partners can help. Working with the Department of Parks and Parkways we can assist with project planning, appropriate tree selection and city permit approval. More than 1000 trees were planted last season. Working together we can do better this year.

Upcoming program topics include Palms in July, Vetiver in August and for the first time, in September "kitchen gardens." For more information about June 9th or other Second Saturday Programs call (504) 620- 2224 or go to our web site.

    Citizen Foresters Trained
    tree trooper outside

Twenty-one Citizen Foresters completed Tree Trooper Training and are ready to become leaders supporting their neighborhoods. The group represented Orleans, Jefferson and St Bernard Parishes and committed to a minimum of 12 volunteer hours to ReLeaf New Orleans. Many class members expressed interest in helping the city enforce ordinances that protect our trees. Troop 07 is sure to become a vital link in assuring successful projects initiated through the combined efforts of citizens, Parkway Partners, and the City of New Orleans Department of Parks and Parkways.
