  • Fertilize or Treat for Termites Now!

With the steady winter rains the trees are now ready for fertilization according to urban foresters. Our trees should receive special care to encourage their recovery from the storm and subsequent drought. Parkway Partners will continue to accept applications for fertilization and termite treatment through May.

    Second Saturday Program 5/12/07 9 a.m. - 12 noon

Spring into Summer and honor Mom too at this month's Second Saturday Program. We will offer lots of colorful plants to brighten your garden. An email reminder with additional information including the topic/speaker will be sent next week. For more information call (504) 620-2224 or go to www.ParkwayPartnersNOLA.org.

    School Yard Gardens
    Mcdonough 15 butterfly garden

From vegetables to butterflies, the school yard garden at Mcdonogh 15 is expanding. After a successful season of growing vegetables, the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students wanted to explore other aspects of gardening. With the help of Amy Graham, Head Gardener at Longue Vue Gardens, Erin Otten's class planted a beautiful butterfly garden that will benefit the entire school and neighborhood. The butterfly garden peaked the interest of the lower elementary students and after a visit from Ms. Otten's class the kindergarden and 1st graders are growing sunflowers, okra, and beans. The School Yard Garden Program is supported by Parkway Partners through a grant from the Governor's Safe and Drug Free Schools Program.

    Esplanade Avenue News!

The Downtown Neighborhood Improvement Association replaced the sod in the 1600 block of Esplanade Avenue. Future plans include an Art Walk and managed green space for residents to enjoy. The DNIA worked with Tulane students in this beautification effort and also canvassed neighbors from Rampart to Broad Street with information about participating in the Parkway Partners Neutral Ground Adoption program. You can become one of our cities restoration "heroes" through managing our green spaces.
