The ReLeaf New Orleans initiative reached a major goal in February with the final tree planted on Elysian Fields Avenue. Sixty (60) Live Oaks, seventy-two (72) Magnolias, sixteen (16) Willow Oaks, and thirty-two (32) Crepe Myrtle trees now line the avenue replacing all trees lost to the hurricane. Neighborhood associations provided volunteers for the project. Residents will continue to beautify the area with plans to plant trees on side streets and in home landscapes.
