    Farewell to Mario!

Mario Taravello, Community Garden Liaison, is leaving Parkway Partners to live and work in Prague. He will teach English while continuing his singing career and traveling. He has been an integral part of the ReLeaf New Orleans Initiative and has been a force in the revitalization of the Community Gardens that were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Mario will be missed. Those wishing to extend a personal good- bye are invited to attend a reception on Saturday, December 9 from 10 a.m. at the Parkway Partners office.

    Edible Schoolyard Gardens

Two new schoolyard gardens at McDonogh 15 and Benjamin Franklin High Schools were provided by A Safe and Drug Free Schools Grant from the Governor’s office. Volunteers from Fannie Mae and school students hammered, nailed and carried more than 1000 bags of soil to ready the sites for their edible winter crops. The gardens support the arts, math, science and healthy diet choices curriculum. Sophie Wright and Robert Mills Lusher Schools also support schoolyard gardens.

    "Feast with the Stars" 2006

Thanks to everyone "Feast with the Stars" 2006 was a great success! We all enjoyed the sumptuous food, lively music and of course the biggest silent auction in the city! See you next year!
