    Voluntourism

Parkway Partners has benefited from the many volunteers visiting from across the country who are helping to ReLeaf New Orleans. During October groups from Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, The Association of Small Non Profits and representatives from Americorps joined locals from Country Day High School and Tulane University. The groups planted trees at Musicians’ Village and Hoffman Triangle, built a culinary garden at Benjamin Franklin High School, planted cypress and oak trees at Mcdonogh 35 and Douglas High Schools, and remediated the Parkway Partners Tree Lot. Many more groups are scheduled to visit our city and and future projects include building a Sow and Grow Garden at Mcdonogh 15 School, refurbishing Community Gardens and planting trees in recovering neighborhoods. Their efforts are appreciated and their work will be evident for years to come.

    ReLeaf New Orleans

With one voice, Jefferson and Orleans Parishes joined to encourage all citizens to plant trees in a ceremony that included resolutions applauding Neighborhoods Month, a program of the Alliance for Community Trees. The program provides funding, along with the Home Depot Foundation, for ReLeaf New Orleans tree planting programs that involve volunteers in Jefferson and Orleans parishes.
