Green Greetings
With the support of our members, partners,
volunteers and friends we are restoring New Orleans
to a lush, beautiful city. We won't stop until the job
is done!
| Tree Trooper Training in September |
 |
|
Tree Trooper Training starts September 7 as the
educational arm of ReLeaf New Orleans.
Neighborhood-based volunteers will learn to properly
care for mature and newly planted trees throughout
New Orleans and Jefferson Parish. The 12 hour
training is FREE and open to the public. Space is
limited, so call today to register.
Under the guidance of Louisiana Urban Forester Tom
Campbell, it is the first time that Friends of Jefferson
the Beautiful and Parkway Partners are joining forces
to support the urban forest. According to Carey
Hammett, recipient of the National Arbor Day
Foundation’s Education Award, “It is exciting to offer
Tree Troopers to the entire Metropolitan area in a
collaborative effort.”

ReLeaf New Orleans is launched with
a $20,000 grant from The Home Depot
Foundation at a recent Mayor’s Conference.
ReLeaf New Orleans restores the urban
forest through grassroots volunteer action and
financial support from local and national donors.
“Replacement of our city’s trees and maintenance of
our green spaces is the critical component of
ReLeaf
New Orleans,” said Jean Fahr, Parkway Partners’
Executive Director. “Our plans are networked with
the City’s Department of Parks and Parkways,
neighborhood associations and civic organizations.
Together we can restore our lush green city.”
