Do you even need a prototype?

Inventors ask this question all the time.  Honestly sometimes you don't, but those times are rare and in every circumstance having a prototype will increase your chances of success.

Practical Lessons for Prototyping
Many times during product development, multiple stages of prototyping can and should be used.  If your product has numerous parts that fit together or if there are significant mechanical functions within the product design, it may be necessary to consider multiple, staged, prototypes.  A combination of several of the below mentioned options might solve most all of your potential problems before they cost you an arm and a leg in production.  It is important in any development to examine and validate fit, form, and function.
