It is highly unlikely that someone will come along and give you a big check for your idea unless you make a dedicated effort to move your idea to the point where it can be licensed or where you can sell it yourself.  The question is then when do you have an idea that is suitable for an individual to develop, and when do you have an idea that will just be a big money pit.   The next series of articles is will help you make that determination so you will know when to move forward.
